Description

Nuclear Dawn is the first game to offer a full FPS and RTS experience, within a single gameplay model, without crippling or diluting either side of the game.

As a soldier, explore war-torn post-apocalyptic landscapes, modelled on modern cities, and take the fight to your enemies as armoured, assault or stealth infantry, using various weapons across ten distinct load-outs to accomplish your objectives. The first person shooter action in Nuclear Dawn is hard, fast and unforgiving, with weapons that rely on skill and tactics more than on twitch reflexes and map memorization.

Then, take Nuclear Dawn above the action, and play as the commander. Organize your fellow players in squads, and assign them to tactical objectives. Plan the resource routes for your army, and production of your structures for forward deployment. Exploit the terrain and resource point locations to block your enemies’ advance, and crush their plans in an iron fist. Research and implement new technologies to give your soldiers the edge on the battlefield, and set up forward bases to lead the assault on your enemies, with a full complement of defensive and offensive structures to choose from, to build your perfect fortress.

Features:

  • Two factions: The Empire and the Consortium have completely separate base-building paradigms.

- RTS commander: Produce structures, research advanced technologies, unleash devastating strikes on the enemy, and lead your team to victory as a RTS commander.

Four classes: Each faction has four classes with various kit load outs, totalling over three dozen weapons.

  • Squad up: Squad-based 32 player full warfare battle mode.

  • Six maps: Travel across the largest, most detailed maps built in Source multiplayer to date.

  • Advanced Weaponry: As a commander, judiciously dispense healing to your troops, and death to their enemies, by managing your advanced abilities.

  • Stats and Unlocks: 60 ranks, 12 unlocks for each weapon, achievements, gizmos and more.

  • SDK: Nuclear Dawn Software Development Kit will be available for the community to be able to create custom maps, etc.

  • Source Powered: Based on the L4D2 engine and modified to bring you the ultimate online battle experience.

  • Steam Powered: Available for both Mac and PC through Steamplay with Steam Cloud support.

Unique.

It's a unique mix of RTS and FPS, worth to be played, so far so good, it's look very nice, it doesn't have a big community, but if you have a chance to pick it up, you should do it, it's one of those "Must have" games, and the more people will buy it, and the more updates the game will have, soon there should be also vehicles if the community will be bigger enough.

Great FPS/RTS

Fun game, most of the time you get spawnkilled constantly though. There are many different weapons and levels, as well as classes to go along with it and the game is very fun! The only thing annoying about the game is the spawn system and how it has little to no spawn protection at all. I reccomend this game to FPS/RTS fans.

Nice tactical game

Not many games mix RTS and FPS. Nuclear Dawn does it quite well.

As a commander, you have access to the base building section of the game. You build can Armouries, Transport Gates, Turrets and Relays to connect resource points to your base in a kind of Perimeter fashion. As you research upgrades, you get access to more kits for your squads and more buildings like the Artillery as well as commander powers such as dropping an area of health or poison. A good commander is key.

As a regular FPS playing prole, you have access to four "classes", each with a few different kits. The Exo class, for example, comes in anti-infantry and anti-armour varieties. You can also choose various utilities like armour piercing ammo.

Pros: Somewhat unique gameplay. Good variety of classes and kits. Teamwork pretty much essential. There are some good team moments in games.

Cons: Source engine, so weapons are hitscan. I find the feel of the weapons to be a bit dull in comparison with games like Tribes.

A decent mix of RTS/FPS.

Not exactly unique considering there were various games to do the same thing (Natural Selection, Savage, and older ones), but it's still a rare mix and is entertaining to play.

Each different class provides different gameplay, with the commander class being drastically different than the rest considering it's the RTS class.

With both teams having good commanders and players, the game can be a lot of fun, although many times what happens is that one team has a bad commander while the other has a decent or good one, and the team with the bad commander proceeds to lose, hard. There's an option to demote the commander but I'm not sure if it's bugged or if people rarely notice it. It also gets disabled after voting down one commander for a while, even if the new one is bad too.

Aside from issues like that, and slight interface bugs, the game is a lot of fun.

Unique mix of RTS and FPS

Nuclear Dawn is an unique mix of FPS and RTS. THe commander is playing RTS and is building attack/defence buildings while the rest are playing FPS and defending or pushing to the enemy base.

There are different classes and different points to be captured. With each point you capture, you get more money for your commander to build things.

I've played this game more than 20 hours already in the beta.

This game cost around 20 $/£ and really shouldn't be something you ignore. Buy it now and play with me! ;)
