"It’s well worth dropping in on Nuclear Dawn: despite frayed edges, it deserves a community explosion." - PCGamer.com
"With an array of class customization and ability to control the battlefield as a commander, a trip to the war torn world of Nuclear Dawn is highly recommended. " - GamingNexus.com
Nuclear Dawn is the first game to offer a full FPS and RTS experience, within a single gameplay model, without crippling or diluting either side of the game.
As a soldier, explore war-torn post-apocalyptic landscapes, modelled on modern cities, and take the fight to your enemies as armoured, assault or stealth infantry, using various weapons across ten distinct load-outs to accomplish your objectives. The first person shooter action in Nuclear Dawn is hard, fast and unforgiving, with weapons that rely on skill and tactics more than on twitch reflexes and map memorization.
Then, take Nuclear Dawn above the action, and play as the commander. Organize your fellow players in squads, and assign them to tactical objectives. Plan the resource routes for your army, and production of your structures for forward deployment. Exploit the terrain and resource point locations to block your enemies’ advance, and crush their plans in an iron fist. Research and implement new technologies to give your soldiers the edge on the battlefield, and set up forward bases to lead the assault on your enemies, with a full complement of defensive and offensive structures to choose from, to build your perfect fortress.
Features:

Like 2Chainz, but in a bad way.
PM_DMNKLR | Jan. 30, 2013 | See all PM_DMNKLR's reviews »For those of you who don't know who 2Chainz is, he's a US-based "rapper" (using the term loosely to be honest) that has this very annoying and repetitive song "I'm Different". The problem here is that this game follows the same mindset. It's drab, has some potential that likely won't be lived up to, and consistently touts how different it is from others. Sure, if you get enough people to play together, you might find it somewhat fun, but the glitches are frustrating and if you join in too late into the matches then you're pretty much screwed. This game has some room for improvement overall, but the biggest problem is how imba it can quickly become and that just makes people avoid it like the plague. Good game, somewhat, but definitely not worth the price. Get it on a major sale or something if you want to try it out, that way if you don't like it, no harm no foul.

Boring
das_regal | Oct. 25, 2012 | See all das_regal's reviews »The game is built on the source engine, and therefore lacking graphically, and by that I mean that the animations are clunky, the lighting is terrible, and the textures feel smoothed over. One should expect no less from an indie experience most likely, but when it comes to shooters these elements really count.
Nuclear Dawn just can't even come close to living up to the triple A shooting experiences that Battlefield and Call of Duty offer. Thankfully it doesn't really try to: Nuclear Dawn has its creative offerings.
The RTS end of the gameplay makes for interesting matches. Teams feel much more cohesive than in other games due to the fact that you're defending structures that your team is actively constructing.
All and all, if you can get past the presentation hiccups, the game is pretty fun.

A hybrid that works
Cooberstooge | Sept. 7, 2012 | See all Cooberstooge's reviews »Usually, combining the FPS and RTS genres results in a massive, unoriginal mess of a game. Such is not the case with Nuclear Dawn, though. Commanding your troops is just as much fun as being amongst the troops, down in the think of things. Having a good, solid team that works together and is cool with taking and following orders is key here, otherwise you're sure to fail.
The game controls very well, from both the commander and foot soldier perspective. It also runs well, thanks to Valve's wonder machine, the Source engine, and therefore screams along happily on older computers, too. Gameplay is fast and varied, and is quite easy to get into for newer players as well.
Both the graphics and sound are well done, and InterWave managed to eek out quite an impressive look from Source without killing older machines in the process. Weapons sound suitably futuristic, and satisfying to fire.
Definitely a game to play, and one to keep an eye on, too, as it just keeps growing and growing.

something different
wojtek858 | July 3, 2012 | See all wojtek858's reviews »The game is a really good connection of FPS and RTS game. We got leveling up (like in last Battlefield games), many different classes and brave attempt to change typical shooter - f.e temporary invisibility for scouts, sniper weapons for both classes: assault and scout, etc.. I liked this game and even if it's not new, developer is still working on updates.
