Raptor: Call of the Shadows
Description
Raptor : Call of the Shadows 2010 Edition is one of the best 2D shoot 'em ups ever!
You'll have to face lots of various enemies on the ground, air and sea during an interplanetary mission flying the super-tech Raptor.
Enjoy the pulse-pounding sound track and the enhanced graphics of the 2010 edition. After each level, go to the supply room to repair your ship or buy new weapons and shields. Be advised, some weapons are only effective on ground or air targets, while some are effective on both. Don't waste your money, the best weapons are really expensive!
Key Features:
- With 3 worlds and 9 distinctive steps in each, you'll experience 27 levels
- Try to collect credits to be able to buy weapons for your future protection
- With the saving feature you will be able to save your game between each level and avoid the "do it all over again!"
- Nice graphics which bring you to the full experience of this shoot'em up

Fantastic scrolling shooter
dark2025 | Oct. 30, 2012 | See all dark2025's reviews »I used to play the shareware version of this to death. It remains one of the best in its genre despite its age.
The gameplay is pretty simple, you're in a ship and you're shooting down ships coming the other way from the top of the screen. You gain money for killing enemies and destroying buildings scattered across the map. After each mission you can use that money to buy new weapons, upgrades, or just to repair your ship.
It's challenging, but not overly so. The difficulty ramps up nicely with each level so that you should have decent equipment to deal with each new challenge.
I honestly think this game is still fun to this day, unlike many 'classics' that are actually more like nostalgic pieces than anything fun you'd play today. I'd definitely recommend this game to anyone looking for a nice shoot'em up.

A fun classic game
TheRealMoremir | Oct. 29, 2012 | See all TheRealMoremir's reviews »Raptor: Call of shadows is a great oldschool game. A 2D scroll, shoot em up jewel, that has aged better than most of it's contemporaries. It is a pretty basic game, mechanics and gameplay wise, but don't let it's simplicity fool you. From casual "just-for-fun" to hardcore gamers, this game offers so much in it's experience. The dificulty leves let you determin how you want to play it, and belive me, it can get tough. With a nice weapons upgrade sistem, its only porblem was the lack of a save feature and the frustration wich you got when losing everything in one go. But this new edition solves that, as well as bringing a small graphic overhaul. If you never played this classic game as a child, this is your chance. Maybe not a deal moneywise, but with GMG's offers, vouchers and trade system, that's never a problem

Raptor Call of the Shadows
blade416 | Oct. 29, 2012 | See all blade416's reviews »Raptor: Call of the Shadows, is one of the funnest 2D shooters I've ever had the pleasure of playing.
Gameplay is pretty standard for 2D shooters. Your constantly moving upwards on your screen, blowing up anything and everything that moves. Every kill you get gains you extra credits, which in turn grants you the option to purchase bigger and badder weapons to utilize.
The graphics in this game are rather dated, but they get the job done pretty well. They are varied enough to keep the game interesting, and the varying map textures are quite good.
The game has good replay value too! Multiple options for weapons give you the opportunity to play with different weapons every time you play.
My only real gripe with this game, would be the lack of a co-op mode. But considering when the game was released, it's not something that was very prominent back then.
Having 27 levels of awesomeness, I'd definitely recommend this game to anyone looking for a fun 2D shooter!
