Generic Enjoyment

Wooden Sen'Sey isn't a bad game by any means, it just doesn't bring anything new to the table. All of the elements within the game work together well, but there's an ever-present, stifled yawn that's begging to come out as you play. That yawn never really comes through, though; Wooden Sen'Sey has enough panache within it to keep you entertained for its short length (which you can extend if you're a perfectionist/side-quest hunter). Another thing that keeps the game fresh is it setting. The art direction and style of Wooden Sen'Sey is a huge accomplishment, breathing life into an otherwise stale atmosphere. All in all, Wooden Sen'Sey is not a very memorable experience. As such, you may not remember it fondly, but you're also not going to regret it.

A good but overpriced indie platformer

Sganotak | Jan. 17, 2014 | See all Sganotak's reviews »

Wooden Sen'Sey is a decent indie action platformer. I picked this up expecting something similar to Trine but it's a lot different as it features a lot less puzzles and doesn't use the physics engine that much. The graphics are pretty good and each level has a unique art style and musical theme. The main problem with Wooden Sen'Sey is it's repetitive and some times very difficult gameplay. There are 9 main story levels, with each one featuring various challenges that you can beat, which add a bit of replayability to the game. Your main weapon is a grappling hook that you can use to not only navigate the levels but also kill enemies and chain combos together. If you ignore the various challenges, the game can be completed in about 2 hours which is very short It is also better to play this game with a controller as the mouse and keyboard controls are bad. Wooden Sen'Sey is most definitely not worth it's current price. There are far better and cheaper platformer games. Pick it up when it's -75% off
