A freaking masterpiece that is so under the radar for so many people. SuperGiant games has two games, and I love them both immensely (Transistor is amazing as well). The art direction, the narration as you go along, and perfect pacing, the story. Wow all around. I love that you can modify the difficulty yourself by adding small challenges to the gameplay organically via idols. The weapon diversity is fabulous - like on Ratchet and Clank level greatness. A game that should not be missed. A definitive bucket list game. You can knock it out on normal in less than 10 hours, and go New Game+ and more challenge to really dig deep in this gem.

The one thing I love about this game is the beautiful hand-drawn backgrounds that quite literally fly onto the screen as you move around. That's honestly all I love. Don't get me wrong, this is not a bad game at all. The music is good, the voice over story-teller fits well, the game is simple enough to follow and play... but it just doesn't hook me. I find I play a level (and enjoy it), and then switch off and go play something else. 2 days later I come back and play another level. Very much a (good-looking) time-filler in my opinion! Level-size is just about right to complete while your wife/girlfriend is in the shower :)

The developer has a unique taste on RPG gaming with Bastion and Transistor, two games I thoroughly enjoy and remember. Beautiful and colorful artwork, interesting story, nice gear. Truly a unique experience. Loved it!

As tight and responsive as the controls are in this game, it's not exactly the focal point, though it is worth commending and getting that out of the way. The game is absolutely stunning. The watercolors are sublime and blend perfectly with the distorted but fascinating environments and set-pieces. The story is minimalist, but grips you enough to make you desperate to learn more. The puzzles are well thought-out, but not impossible to solve. Plot elements are slowly revealed over time, while also dropping subtle hints throughout your playthrough. Also, that narrator has an epic voice and I want it. Overall, the game is a beautiful and fun experience with a slowly developing, super-twisty plot, good puzzles, tight controls, and a fascinating world. It also has stellar music. The only flaw that comes to mind is that some beginning segments drag on a bit too long, like a couple minutes too long. I feel like it's trying to give you time to take in the world, but I like to do that and move on. There also seem to be large segments where not a lot happens, though that may only be in contrast to how much happens when they do. Otherwise, fantastic.

This is easily one of the top 100 most iconic and well recognized games on steam. Everything about this game is original, and all of it is excellent. The characters, the engine the graphics and all the visuals in the game from the enemies to the npcs, the protagonist and all his gear are all beautiful, there is nothing to criticize or take away from, the work put into it is clear on every level of the game. The sound track on this game is one of the best in any game of this genre on steam, it brings you back to the game again and again, builds a unique atmosphere and tension that belongs to this game alone and isn't duplicated in any other. The variety in challenges and gear will keep people who love that aspect of the game occupied for several hours, and for those who don't care about that, the story will be the anchor. The plot is well written, and fresh, nothing about the game feels stale or reused which often happens with games and movies, it is rare to find a gem so different and worthwhile. If I was asked to make a list of must own games on steam, this game is going to be on it, at full price, it is worth every penny. Beautiful to look at, great to listen to, a joy to play and quite engaging in it's story line. If you do not own it, get it!
