One of the best games I have played. An excellent story with great narration, memorable moments and characters, great music, and a perfect ending. Beautiful art style and design of the world and stages that help to tell the games story and the worlds history. Items found on levels can be shown to characters to learn more about them or the world, even the narration for when you find or equip a new weapon can tell you more about the setting. Fun gameplay with a lot of different weapons to unlock, special moves to use, and additional options that can make the game more challenging. A must have and one of many indie games that shows that a team with talent, passion, and creativity can accomplish so much more than a massive AAA studio.

Bastion is an top-down action-RPG game with a beautiful sort of painted colorful look and is definitely one of the best indie games I've ever played. It has a rather simple story that is told very well in an interesting way. Trough narration. Narrated video games while rare aren't anything new, but this one really stands out to me. The narration is done by a gravelly, but charismatic sounding guy and has surprisingly huge amount of reactionary comments on everything you do in the game. And the music! This game has one of the best soundtracks in gaming in a long time! The gameplay consists mostly of beating up hoards of interesting enemies, with loads of different weaponry. Ranged, melee, leveling up, skills and boosts. What keeps it interesting though, is the cool level design, great music, narration and interesting side activities. Including shooting ranges, time trials and survival. The game also has great re-play potential with it's new game plus and the fact that it can be played in many different ways.

Bastion is one of the most unique works of fiction I have ever had the pleasure to go through. Bastion's plot is good, it starts off with the main character running away from "The Calamity", and him getting to the "Bastion", a shelter that had been built in case of a major catastrophe. There, he meets Rucks, and then they proceed to search for cores, which are used to rebuild the different parts of the Bastion. Graphics are colorful, bright, and kind of contrast the plot's darker tones. Although they're kind of cartoonish, they work wonders. Gameplay is not the game's best feature. You can use up to two weapons of your choice, which you can change at certain building that can be found in the bastion, and you can upgrade them so they have different effects. You can also learn active skills for them. The game's strongest point is its narration. Every single thing the player does and every single bit of plot that goes on, is narrated. And that is one of the things that make the game an unique experience. Bastion, overall, is a wonderful game I recommend to fans of every genre, at least at 50% off since its duration is kind of short (It took me 7 hours to beat it), but since it has multiple endings it can be extended to about 11 hours.
