Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams combines the challenge of retro era platforming with graphics that pack a visual punch and tight controls.

Captivating graphics, sharp controls, inspiring mechanics, intriguing world, awesome music and sounds. Challenging levels.
Not much can be expected from a platformer, but Giana Sisters goes ahead and exceeds them. A brilliant platformer and recommended for any fan of the genre.

This game is designed to make you feel like you are playing very pretty version of an old-school super nintendo side scrolling platformer. From collecting floating jewels that serve no purpose to jumping onto bad guys to kill them, it is old school gameplay completely. If that is what you like, then this will be a great game for you. But while I do enjoy some side scrollers such as The Cave and Trine 2, this game was very boring to me because it didn't present any new ideas or takes on anything. I felt like I had done all of this already back when I was a kid. Nothing struck me as clever. The game also barely has a story at all. Hopefully this review gives you an idea as to what you should expect from this game.

The original Giana Sisters game was an Amiga game that was pulled from shelves as it was a blatant Super Mario Bros. ripoff. This game distances itself from that seminal title, and in doing so leaves me feeling that it isn't part of the Giana Sisters universe, instead trading on the value of the name alone to retro minded gamers.
Well, the good news is that it is a decent game in its own right. I almost wish that they had not used the Giana Sisters name as I am disappointed that it is not closer to a Mario style platformer.
