Description

Ever had that itching desire to break out of hell and into the highest reaches of heaven? In Party of Sin, you take control of the Seven Deadly Sins in a coopetitive puzzle-platformer for 1-4 players.

Master a large, dynamic team of anti-heroes -- the Seven Deadly Sins -- as you forge your destiny on a quest to troll humanity. Envy, Greed, Sloth, Pride, Wrath, Lust, Gluttony are all multi-dimensional with special powers useful in many situations.

Swap characters on the fly as you change tactics based on the situation: ALL the Sins are useful in combat, ALL the Sins aid in puzzle solving, and ALL the Sins have coop interactions, both Good and Evil.

Key Features:

  • Adventure:

A full 6 to 8 hours of gameplay is provided, in both solo and coop modes. Play over 20 levels on your adventure through Hell, Purgatory, Earth and Heaven. Upgrade your Sins in the shop by collecting God's forbidden apples. Five bosses like the Demon Narwhal and the Airship Captain stand in your way.

  • Solo:

Being alone requires more thought and planning as you make your escape from hell. Challenging puzzles and battles that will force you to combine powers in creative ways await you.

  • Coop:

You are not alone! Play with up to 3 of your friends and combine the sin powers in new and sinister ways. You will discover that all your powers that work on enemies also work on other sins. Use them to help the team or punish bad behaviour.

  • Inspired by known classics:

Super Smash Bros, Zelda, Super Mario. Party of Sin takes the best games of your youth and melts them down into a sinful super-game. Powers are adapted from classic mechanics like grappling hooks and time-shifting.

  • Religious Theme:

Explore four biblical worlds as you make your way from the depths of Hell to the vaults of Heaven, one angel at a time. Fight enemies based in Christian mythology like demons, angels, cherubs and templars. Take the final fight to Saint-Michael himself!

Join a party of epic proportions that tests your ability to think from the other side of morality… Which Sin are you?

A puzzle platformer

Battle between heaven and hell was aways a good theme for video games. Such games as Messiah, Bayonetta and DmC are good examples of such titles.

Party of Sin, however is quite a different take on this genre. Most of the previous titles set in such themes were action games, but Party of Sin is a platformer with a lot of logical elements. You are controlling a group of sins, and you have to get through many different levels - hell, purgatory and heaven. Each sin has unique abilities - think about it as characters from Trine. To pass each level, you will have to use the abilities in certain situations. It also features some action elements, for example fighting with enemies, jumping on platforms and stuff.

The graphics and sounds could be better, but nevertheless I had fun playing it. For few bucks it is worth it.

A good game for a couch coop evening with friends.

This game supports couch coop for up to 4players and I can't stress enough how much this game benefits from being played in multiplayer.

The Good: It has fun mechanics every sin plays mostly differently and you will soon have a favorite. The puzzles can be very tricky alone, but in coop there are lots of fun solutions for a given puzzle. You can buy upgrades for the different sins.

The Bad: Its animations are very choppy and the models have a very low poly count. The combat isn't too much fun until you figured out and mesmorized how to switch quickly between sins. The game is very short and it is completed in about 4hours, so it is a perfect match for a couch coop evening. There are sadly only two upgrades per sin.

Summary: All in all a friend of mine and me had a blast playing it, because we had lots of fun situations, where we did something stupid and just laughed. If you can see over its technical flaws in animation and graphics, this should be on your list for a couch coop evening.

If you're a fan of SSB, then you'll love this game!

If you’re a fan of Trine and games like Super Smash Bros. then you’re going to love Party of Sin! It is a fun beat-em-up 3D platformer with a fair unique art style, which is slightly cartoon based but has a charming and rustic feel to it.

Party of Sin has a lot of replayability to it and the many different characters (or Sin’s) are all unique and you will love every single last one. Each with their own unique abilities and style you need to master to use them, it makes it far more interesting.

The multiplayer aspect of the game is possibly the best and most enjoyable way to play, rather than solo, as working together and using the different Sin’s abilities together is a lot of fun and works well. Would certainly recommend this game, and is an absolute must-have for Trine and Super Smash Bros. fans if on sale!

Good game

Cavalieroscuro | Dec. 21, 2012 | See all Cavalieroscuro's reviews »

This game is a sort of Trine. You can use and switch between different characters (or Sin), each with its own powers. to solve puzzles and advance on the level. Since swap thing can be boring, you can play with a friend on coop and make your life easier. The graphic is pretty good but doesn't reach the magnificent of Trine 2 one, and the soundtrack is nothing special, but the game really worth the price. It's not too long (canonical ten hours), but it is a very funny experience.
