As the mysterious and powerful "Guardian of Earth" your steely eye and HYPER-POWERED LASER ARM have kept the citizens of Earth safe for generations (as well as proving a hit with the ladies).

With all your awesome TALENT and FLAIR, surely it would be IMPOSSIBLE for a devastating invasion of Doom Beasts to descend on your cities and cause havoc without your knowledge? (Even if you were MAYBE showboating for a magazine photo-shoot at the time...)

Now, you must not only defend your cities from the ravenous hordes of Doom Beasts - you must defend yourself against accusations of gross incompetence from the Galactic Council of Justice! And this is all BEFORE you can even start to get to the bottom of just who OR what is really behind the attacks...

Great Sidescroller

A really great side-scrolling shooter/action game. There are really only two bad things to say about it. 1) It's rather short. 2) The keyboard control scheme is unnecessarily strange and cannot be changed. While it's not a painfully awkward configuration, it is at least awkward enough to make you wonder what their reasoning must have been and make you wish you could change it. The control situation is slightly alleviated by the fact that you can use a 360 controller, if you have that particular setup. But if you don't have a 360 controller setup, you're pretty much SOL in that department. Still, despite these two demerits, it's a great little action game.

Retro Fun!

The protagonist that you're playing, Earth is the guardian of, well, planet Earth.

Basically your hero is invulnerable, he could not die even the enemy touches him (he'll just rip them apart) but any enemy attacks that landed on him will make him either stunned or slowed. Any enemy that you fail to eliminate which got pass you, will have impact on the city's life. City's life reaches zero and its game over. You can hear the crowd "YAY" when you manage to defend the city, and "AW" if you ever let past a single enemy.

Game's difficulty is slowly build up across the stages, which adds the old school challenge where you must be quick on your wits and reflexes to repel attacks. Ah, old school shoot 'em up that we know and love when we were young.

Do not be fooled by its cartoonish graphics, the game looks awesome even in a simplistic way. Animations are fluid and there is no graphical hiccups along the way. Although I hope that the normal enemies could have a bigger variety than having bigger versions of it.

Once the Infinite mode is unlocked (equivalent to survival mode), you need to survive as long as you can to achieve the highest score. Whatever you learned in the campaign shall put to test in infinite mode, which is hella challenging.

Overall I would recommend this to anyone that loves shoot 'em up games, with $6 price tag (and even lower on sales) this is worthy addition to your collection.
