Final Fantasy XI was never a huge success, atleast in Europe. After spending some time with it I had to admit, that it had a huge potential - mainly lots of different races, and jobs (classes). You could be basically anything you wanted - from onion knights, through typical warriors and clerics to ninjas and dragon knights! The game also featured very nice visuals (which hasn't aged that badly - IMO it looks way better then WoW, for example), and interesting combat system, which mixed traditional western role-playing games with JRPG. I think that it didn't get that popular here mainly because of the fact, that it is still an jRPG at heart - with many complicated things to do, and a weird, unusual UI. However, if you got through it the game got really wonderful! And you know what is even better? That even so many years after the release, the developers are still working on this game. Seekers of Adoulin is one of 5 expansion packs, that adds just a lil bit of everything - new jobs, quests and areas to explore. It is pretty massive for an expansion pack, and it is deinitely a well-spent money. If you are an FF XI player, and you want to get even more from it, then give it a shot, you won't be disappointed.
