My eyes!!!!!

ViciousXUSMC | April 17, 2012 | See all ViciousXUSMC's reviews »

My eyes bleed with happiness as Beat Hazard is one of the best time killing games I have ever played.

When you're in that stasis mode where you're not quite feeling like doing much like playing a competitive game, and you dont want to be so lazy as to just sit still and listen to music.

Beat Hazard gives you the answer; listen to your music and interact with it at the same time. This way your not a total vegetable and you get to just kick back and enjoy your tunes.

They integrated online radio now too, so you can listen to music that you dont even know and maybe find stuff you like from it.

I have had many hours of fun with this game both single player and online vs a friend. For the money its not even a question if you should buy this game.

It's got pretty flashy lights :)

Dweezy | March 8, 2012 | See all Dweezy's reviews »

This is a game that is driven by your music. At first, it will take some getting use to the intense lights which make it hard to distinguish enemies and their fire. You'll soon find yourself immersed in the music and the more intense the music, the more powerful your ship's fire power! Don't worry if the only tracks you have on your computer are from Barney's Soundtrack (although the 'I Love You, You Love Me' song is surprisingly intense), Beat Hazard provides a nice sampling of music to play with.

There are survival and 'chillout' modes, in addition to track by track play. The game rewards you via a ranking system so the more you play, the more points you score, the higher up the ranks you'll go. Ranks earn you bonuses in-game, giving you better starting stats, better score multipliers and more ways to stay alive.

Putting all epilepsy jokes aside (no seriously, don't play if you are prone to seizures) this music+arcade shooter game will have you mesmerized from the start!

Amazing

Beat Hazard gives what it promises: the ability to play your music. The modes are very interesting, although there aren't many of them. They are all very challenging, you'll need practice to finish those ultra-rapid songs you want to! The graphics are good, but take care, they're also a free epilepsy test. You can set the % of effects (I usually go with 50%, I don't wanna have a fit). This is a must buy, so do it right now!

Beat Hazard is Amazing

darkxl | Sept. 4, 2011 | See all darkxl's reviews »

Out of all the music game out there, Beat Hazard is my favorite music game so far! It's basically a twin stick shooter where it take place in Universe. The game is powered by your music so if your music is very active more enemies will attack you, all while you shoot and get power-ups to upgrade. At the same time the graphics changes and they look amazing! There's all kinds of perks and enemies and it's just awesome when you shoot them and see the game evolved with your music. I really love Beat Hazard so this review may be biased because I just love everything about this game and spent so many hours on it. The only thing i hate are that i have to pay extra for co-op and certain file support.

Epilepsy, the game

jojot | Sept. 2, 2011 | See all jojot's reviews »

Beat Hazard is probably my favorite music game out there. At it's heart it's the Basic Asteroids like SHMUP where you fly around the space given to you and shoot everything that isn't you or a power up. The twist is the level is generated based on the musical track you play (you can even use your own mp3's) and so is the power of your weapon. The other twist is that your weapon and everything that explodes on screen is made up of bright flashing particles that change color and brightness in time with the music. This creates an unprecedented amount of visual noise and makes it almost impossible to see what is going on, not to mention giving you photosensitive seizures if you aren't careful. The game is still a tonne of fun to play (as long as you aren't epileptic) and works especially well with dance/techno music and fast metal I have found.
