"The best flying game we've seen from this developer to date and a spirited look at WWII dogfighting that should bring a smile to anyone with an itchy trigger finger and a hankering for action." -

"For those who find this type of game appealing then there is much to recommend." -

There’s something new in the air, and it’s more than the hum of hundreds of aero engines... As the Luftwaffe launches its aerial offensive, the outnumbered Royal Air Force is scrambling to bring into combat new planes that will ensure victory over a stronger foe. Will they succeed?

It’s up to you, and your Hurricane or Spitfire. If you hold off the enemy long enough, you’ll be the first to fly the Hawker Tornado and Westland Whirlwind into combat, and enable the Empire to strike back before Reichsmarschall Goering finishes his breakfast. You’ll be rewarded with bonus missions, promotions, decorations, and a view of burning Berlin from the tail turret of a Halifax bomber.

Join in the new Battle of Britain. Your aircraft is ready and waiting...

Key features:

  • Enjoy the realism of a detailed damage model, stunning graphics, and outstanding special effects

  • Get on board of one of realistically modeled planes, e.g. Spitfire and Hurricane and dive into the world of ultra realistic air fights

Combat Wings: Battle of Britain is mostly an arcade based flying shooter for those that may be interested in the time period or aircraft, but either don't want or aren't looking for a simulation style flying game. Combat Wings is loosely based on the early BOB campaign in WWII, but with the usual arcade gameplay that throws you into the air with easy controls, multiple objectives, and lots of ammo. The game could be easily played with a mouse, and is completely action based. Graphics are mediocre and several years dated, but passable. Sound and other technical elements are useable but nothing special. All in all, this is a cheap shooter that is likeable, and fun for casual gamers, but hardly worth the time for historically inclined gamers or sim types.
