Train simulator has evolved over the years starting as a basic gamulator more than a simulator to now more of a simulator thanks to the quality addons finally coming into it.
If you don't mind having just basic content then thats fine but if you want constant enjoyment you got to drop money into this game and its NOT cheap to sustain but thats no big deal for the hours of fun you have from it, Currently i'm at 274 hours and climbing.
The routes are getting more detailed with each new route created and new locos coming in also, with constant content flooding in 6 years since its release theres no sign of this game dying any time soon
A good game, not without its faultsMooliopunk | Nov. 5, 2013 | See all Mooliopunk's reviews »
I have this game as it updated from TS2013, and I like it a lot. The devs RSC are not exactly what you would call consumer champions, but if you go 3rd party, you are sure to find something that you like. I would recommend buying even if you're not that into trains. The best routes are not the ones that come with the game, so consider buying a route such as the West Coast Main line North By Keith M Ross, available form steam because it is huge and offers a huge amount of different scenarios. Go for it, but know what you're getting yourself into
Really good simulator !fussioman | Oct. 1, 2013 | See all fussioman's reviews »
... with great features and stunning gameplay. I owned the 2013 copy of the game and I get the free update to 2014 which is good and shows that the producer really takes care of this customers and you don't have to buy the same thing again. This is a huge plus. The game itself is really one of the best railroad simulators available, the graphics are photorealistic, the optimization is good, and the most important thing - you get plenty of fun playing ! There is editor, which alows you to create your own routes and share them. I like the weather system which looks really realistic and man, it's really fun to drive the train in rainy atmosphere ;) I don't like the prices of the DLCs, but each addon is very huge and adds amazingly big routes and breathtaking models of trains so the price is in 90% right, but in my opinion too expensive anyway at least for my pockets. Altough you can always download content created by the community which is a great alternative. The game is smooth and it will get your attention for a long time if you like trains.

This is the upgraded version of Train Simulator 2013. If you have previously bought Train Simulator 2013 on Steam, then you already own this game as this is only an update version of the game. All your DLCs that you have brought are also compatible with the latest entry of the game. The menu system had a new overhaul and look fantastic as well as the new trains and tracks the player can access with this new upgrade. This is by far one of the best train sim in the market and definitely should get it with all the contents and replayability of the game has to offer.
