Yet another rally game.

Obsessor | Aug. 5, 2014 | See all Obsessor's reviews »

Realism of driving is pretty good. I can't say if it's comparable to other rally games out there, because WRC is the only one I've played. But the cars feel "proper" if you know what I mean. Heavy and powerful, or light and underpowered. Depends on the car. Difficulty settings provide wide range of help to those who don't want realistic driving but just driving. And having fun. Cars look pretty considering the year of the game's release. Destruction models are on the other hand poor. Music is there, somewhere. Not bothering you much, meaning you can focus on driving.

All in all the game is in the middle of my scale of "fun provided." There are lots of cars and categories to drive in. Career is pretty long(and at some points plainly dull). There is some degree of customization for cars. As well as few uprgades you can make.

There are two more installments of this series, and you would be better off playing WRC 2 or 3. Those are much better, just like the developer was learning how to make the game as it should be.

Great Fun

Looking for a rally game? One that is realistic and fun to play? Then look no further than this title. With licensed teams and cars this adds to the realism. The driving physics also helps. Graphically this game looks alright and is very easy to look at. Worth a purchase.

Last Gen game

Avesomeofthat13 | Aug. 8, 2013 | See all Avesomeofthat13's reviews »

This game is in a bit of a time warp - the graphics are very last-gen-console level, and the gameplay is lifted from Colin McRae circa 2003. In fact, for comparison I fired up a copy of Colin McRae 04 (released in 2003) on my old original xbox. It's uncannily similar to WRC 2010 - the graphics are of a similar quality, and the whole structure of the game is remarkably similar. WRC 2010 is a little more arcadey than CM04 in terms of the driving skill required to do well.

Now don't get me wrong, I enjoyed CM04 and actually while Codemaster's more recent Dirt titles are in a completely different league in terms of graphics and playability, the straight-laced approach of the old CM games can be quite enjoyable. And so it is with WRC2010 - it's a really simple little game but still good fun and I find myself playing it regularly. You kind of get used to the graphics after a while, even if it feels odd at times to be playing a game that must be using a small fraction of the PC's power.

Entertaining

I was kept pretty entertained the whole time. Non stop movement pleases the brain for some reason.

Well-rounded rally game

Cooberstooge | Sept. 11, 2012 | See all Cooberstooge's reviews »

WRC FIA World Rally Championship is a game that has something to offer every rally fan, from the folks who just want to rip up a course with easy to use arcade controls, all the way to the person who has to modify all the essential components of their car, it's all here. This is one game much of the community overlooks, as the big-name titles seem to keep hold over the majority of the fans - it certainly wouldn't hurt to give this one a look-see, though.

The graphics are quite good, and manage to offer a nice balance of pretties to performance, in that you can crank the settings nearly to the max before noticing any lag, even on machines that aren't souped-up gaming rigs. The cars look great, but extra care was spent here on the tracks - anyone familiar with SEGA Rally Revo will enjoy the awesome dirt effects, both on the track and all over your ride. Controls are great, and really work well for all types of players - messing about with your car to really get into the game is just as fun as driving with the stock key bindings. Sounds are also well done, and hearing your vehicle slide around on the track, and the frantic howling of the engine as you barrel around tight curves.

The campaign is awesome and very long, but multiplayer matches with your friends and other random internet denizens is far more enjoyable. There's still a good sized community behind this one, and they're pretty welcoming to new folks. There's always race events going on, and finding someone up for challenging your times is nice and easy. Definitely recommend this game, and overlooked little gem of the rally racing genre.
