Sanctum 2 is the sequel to the world’s first Tower Defense/FPS hybrid game. Pick from four unique character classes and embark on a mission to protect the oxygen-producing Cores from hordes of deadly aliens who are threatened by their existence. Outfit your character exactly the way you want through the new and extensive customization system. Choose your own loadout of towers, weapons and perks, but choose wisely because you are humanity’s last defense against the unrelenting hordes set out to destroy it.
Sanctum 2 is a new game completely rebuilt from the ground up using community feedback and innovative design to really push the bar of what an independent studio can do. Intense action – Deep strategy
In Sanctum 2, you will utilize elements from multiple gameplay genres to succeed. Construct towers and walls during the building phase before the enemies attack, then jump into the fray and blast everything to pieces in FPS mode. You can progress through the single-player campaign yourself, or play with up to four friends in co-op to discover the secrets of the planet LOEK III and learn the backstory on why the aliens are so intent on destroying the Cores you are sworn to protect.
Building on the success of the original game, Sanctum 2 stands alone as the only true FPS/Tower Defense hybrid. No other title delivers gameplay that seamlessly combines both genres.
Tower Defense – Design complex mazes and build powerful towers to stop the enemies from destroying the Cores.
First-Person Shooter – Don’t just sit back and watch, jump into the action yourself!
Four playable character classes – Each with their own unique strengths, weaknesses and weapons.
Vast Customization System – Pick perks or make the game crazy hard by adding Feats of Strength.
In-game Visual Novel – Unlock a comic-book page for every map you beat to discover the secrets of LOEK III.
Progression System – Increase your rank and unlock new weapons, towers and perks.
4-Player Co-op – Progress through the storyline yourself or team up with other players whenever you want.
A really enjoyable game!crisman | Nov. 4, 2013 | See all crisman's reviews »
This game is really a surprise for me: I liked the first Sanctum, but this sequel has much more interesting stuff in it. The formula is the same as the first one: you have to build a maze, build some defensive towers in it, and kill everything that move when the wave starts, avoiding these monsters to destroy the core at all costs. Some cool additions are for example the campaign, to play both in solo or co-op, a personalized difficulty system, the perks system, and a much more interesting tower upgrade system. Only in the vanilla version there are 16 levels and the DLCs promises to bring this number to 32 (I don’t own any of them, yet), each one is pretty different in style and tactical approach, and to play on survival mode. In addition, finally the difficult has been balanced: waves are not random anymore, so the luck factor completely disappear. Overall, if you liked the first Sanctum, you probably won't be disappointed by this game! The only thing I’m pretty disappointed are just the achievements: the first one had more than 100 achievements, some of them were pretty original and funny to do, this has just 36 achievements, and they are pretty standard to do… but at least there are still some secrets to discover in the huge levels!
A very unique and fun game, especially with friends.khryon | Aug. 9, 2013 | See all khryon's reviews »
A very enjoyable hybrid that combines the elements of FPS and tower defense together. With multiplayer, one can truly feel the teamwork when co-operating with other people in the placement of turrets, blockades and choke points. This is doubly so when certain waves of monsters require precise communication and teamwork. Overall, this game is a very nice twist to the tower defense genre with polished FPS elements.
Great improvement from the firstlok0812 | Aug. 8, 2013 | See all lok0812's reviews »
This second installment in the series improved from the first in every way. The leveling system, upgrades to the placement of your towers are much better and easier to deal with in this one. In addition, the graphic of this one looks more crisp and beautiful compared to the first one. Downside is that the game uses the same model for bosses for a long time so it might get repetitive shooter the same monster over and over again. If you enjoyed the first one when it was only a mere good innovation to have TD and FPS in one game, then you will enjoy this one as everything remains the same except this time more great things are built on top of it.

If you're a fan of both tower defense games and first person shooters, you've probably often longed for a way to combine your two favourite genres. Sanctum 2 gives you that option. A good, fun twist on both genres, the two modes blend together almost seamlessly.

What an incredibly unique game. Equal parts shooter and tower defense, melded into a one-of-a-kind experience that exercises both your mind and your trigger finger. Co-op is an absolute blast, offering some modes of pure cooperation and some of friendly, score-chasing competition. Visually, the game is heavily stylized without being gpu-intensive, inviting players with the rig to downsample to their heart's content. It can look stunning on good hardware, and very nice on weaker ones.
