This is the traditional Western and Middle Eastern “Cradle of Civilization." It includes the Fertile Crescent, with the Nile River valley to the west and extending east down the Tigris and Euphrates river valleys to the Persian Gulf.
The Cradle of Civilization map packs are Firaxis-designed maps of real-world locations. You can play random leaders in these settings, or choose leaders appropriate to the history of these areas. The maps can also be opened up in World Builder, where you can even create specific scenarios.

It adds a few interesting maps, but nothing too different from what's available already. The Nile River map is probably the best, and is the one stand-out map that offers something unique for scenarios. One bonus is that it's very cheap, so you might as well give this a try and see if you enjoy it. Also, Civ 5 is so fun anyway that you'll enjoy this no matter what.

If you already are an experienced Civilization 5 player then this is a good little expansion to add to your collection. It adds several maps to the game that are quite fun to play with. However if you are new to the base game, I recommend that you play that first before rushing into buying anything. Nice small bit of DLC.
