Supreme
vigotski | Sept. 6, 2011 | See all vigotski's reviews »Imagine yourself commanding a superpower during the Cold War. That's what Supreme Ruler: Cold War gives to you.
You control and decide what do to in all the different aspects your country is involved into (like weapons production, tecnology research, economy, etc.). You can also command the AI to take care of things for you, but this way you lose many interesting things the game has to offer.
The three different game modes are very enjoyable. They can take some hours to finish or even weeks! You'll find yourself thinking about what to do while you're brushing your teeth, working or doing something else.
The tactical variety is amazing, comparable to the historical accuracy. You can sabotage events that happened in real life, you can negotiate, spy enemies and much more.
The game is very complex, what may be a drawback to people who don't enjoy strategy games very much. And the graphics are kinda poor, not a little appealing.
If you enjoy a good challenge and are ready to play a thing like a Supreme Ruler, buy this game right now!

Vast number of choices!
Arthan | Aug. 8, 2011 | See all Arthan's reviews »This game can get a bit scary at first because so much is going on at once, but then when you slow the game speed down a bit you can really get to appreciate the detail and the vast number of choices you get when you play Supreme Ruler ColdWar. I like the military battles side myself, so the improvements over the older Supreme Ruler games with better naval transport, and the option to fight wars as a "proxy" instead of declaring war on everybody, are very big features. The Espionage side is a bit boring, but the tech tree is improved and easier to understand, and ties in better with the rest of the game. Diplomacy has some cool new options, and a lot of the other regions (controlled by the AI) seem to have lots of things of their own going on. I'm actually preferring the Sandbox to the Campaign game, but that may change - lots of gameplay and replay value in this game.

Better
hotmando1 | July 23, 2011 | See all hotmando1's reviews »I do like the wider range and innovative ideas in this. first, you get a globe and a map. While other real time games are more limited to just "one" single area such as Europe, this lets you spread across the world. Neat and huge play time is already shown through this. Although there are only a few factions to play, they're the main ones that most people like to play as. United States, etc. Who wants to play as a small weak nation? Technology research, trade, etc is very common, so players should know what to expect. The ai ministers can sometimes screw up..so be wary. Visually speaking, game is nice so to say. But I've seen better. Ai does what it is supposed to do..most of the time. I enjoyed multiplayer, always fun in a lan party.

A great strategy game!!
Xbomborz | July 22, 2011 | See all Xbomborz's reviews »This is a great strategy game for fans of evolving gameplay, random events, fast-paced action, and government/military/economic management. Supreme Ruler Cold War provides variety and innovation to the stagnant strategy genre, which is exactly what the genre needs. If you like playing as multiple factions with a large "world map" style of gameplay, this game is for you!!
