More Dawn of War 2

New campaing with a feature to import your save game from the original DoW2 campaign. Level 30 cap (increased from lvl 20 in the original). New heroes to join your team. New skills for every hero. Many new items, unseen in the original. And finally more good old Dawn of War 2 gameplay with very interesting story. Multiplayer is also worth a try, especially now that it has been sorted out and basically reactivated by Steam. So the game is totally worth your while.

A good add-on

Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War II Chaos Rising is an expansion for Dawn of War II. The menu is the same, as it is also the case for the in-game interface. If you played the original game, you will be able to start and make your way trhough the game in about 8 hours. Each missions take around 20-25 minutes. except for the last one who took me over an hour.

A new addition in this expansion is a corruption/redemption effect. What this means is that there is some gear or mission objectives that will either corrupt you or lower this corruption (named redemption). There are 5 different endings on all depending which way you play the game. I don't really know if the ends really worth redoing the whole game, but still, this is a plus.

The geaphics look correct nowadays, however the sounds is sometimes horrible. It is scratchy when there is a lot of action going on the screen.

Other than that, the cursor sometimes get lost and I have to press ESC and quickly find it back when I'm in the middle of a combat. This is really annoying.

Otherwise, the game is great. If you like the Warhammer franchise, do not wait and buy this game.

Better in every way than the original

Fans of the Dawn of War 2 will definitely appreciate this expansion. Almost every aspect of the original game is iterated upon, adding up to a richer, fuller experience. In terms of game play it is still the same game, but inside you will find more units, more loot and more mission types to whet your appetite. The story line is stronger with the added Corruption mechanic, which gives you an incentive to play through the game a second time to see how differently things can turn out. Facing off Chaos Marines is exciting and forces you to approach familiar challenges in new ways. The attention to detail from the original remains - each unit type in the game is rendered with loving detail and has their own unique character. For a fun, squad based tactical level strategy game, this expansion has a lot to offer.

This game expands the Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War II base game and adds new missions, new heroes, new weapons, and new mechanics to the gameplay. It is still a RTS game, so you are controlling you units and fighting. Play solo or with a friend on Games for Windows Live. I am not a fan of GFWL, compared to just using Steam networking, but it works. Visually the game looks great. You can zoom in and watch the battles (but that is more for specific fights) - RTS is best played from afar so you can see as much as possible. Missions are broken into smaller story pieces, so you can play for short periods and still progress (nothing worse than an RTS battle lasting over an hour and having to quit in the middle with no save feature).
