Historical Legacy
From Iceland to India, the Arctic circle to Central Africa players will experience bountiful new lands to explore or conquer. The Crusader Kings 3 timeline will have two starting points in 867 and 1066 respectively. You will be able to experience the Viking age all the way through to the fall of the Byzantium ages. Guide your chosen dynasty through centuries of conflict and power shifts. Take over new lands to establish your legacy. In Crusader Kings 3 you can choose the type of ruler you wish to be by creating your own religion or by bringing other religious powers to your side. Or you can take the path of warfare by recruiting powerful armies and researching new technologies to stay ahead of your biggest threats to your power.
With the Crusader Kings 3 start date of 867 the Macedonian dynasty ruled in real life, but this is your chance to change history and start your own legacy in this massive strategy game that will no doubt keep players occupied for hundreds of hours.
Choose Your Ruler
When picking your Crusader Kings 3 start date, you’ll also be picking your ruler. The choices are vast and varied as you’re able to choose any political entity from that period. Whether that be a smaller kingdom from Africa or the all conquering Roman Empire the choice is yours.
Once you’ve picked your ruler you can mold them to your way of playing with unlockable traits and skills. However, your ruler may already have their own true nature that they wish to adhere to. Should you deny them that for too long you may face unforeseen consequences. When your ruler dies it is not the end, you will be able to continue on as their heir, inheriting titles and even some traits.
Build Your Dynasty
The ultimate goal in Crusader Kings 3 is to build your reputation and become a famous leader. In order to achieve this you can wage and win wars. Or you can marry off members of your family to spread your dynasty wide across lands. There is the ability to unlock permanent perks that can be passed on to your descendants such as them being prone to being giants.
There are numerous ways in which you can grow your fame and expand your empire and the choice is truly yours.
It’s not just yourself that you need to focus on however. In order to succeed you will also need to surround yourself with good allies. Hire spies to uncover plots against your empire or recruit agents to infiltrate and undermine enemies, or just ask them to murder someone… it really is up to you how to rule.
