Letter from the Engine Room 02/12/2016

Our engineers in the Engine room have been busy updating both the Green Man Gaming site and community. Here is a quick rundown on what we have been working on.

Community Profiles.

The Green Man Gaming community profiles are getting a pretty hefty upgrade. Soon everyone’s profile will feature an activity feed, to keep your friends updated with all your steam activity. Your friends will be able to track your achievements, game time and total game time on any specific title. Profiles will also be getting overview graphs which highlight players top played games of all time and total gaming time logged. As well as being able to change your community avatar.

To ensure speedy and performant pages on Green Man Gaming we have written the profile page using a lot of Angular Js. Angular helps us by serving the website from our CDN, (essentially static pages) and we use angular to pull in the dynamic content. The backend has been written in c#, we are pretty proud of how it has turned out and hope you guys like it.

Mobile App

Green Man Gaming will be getting a mobile app over the coming weeks. The functionality of the
app when launched will include things such as an App only feed of the latest games, curated lists of articles which we think may interest users, never ending scrolling which makes browsing the GMG store deals that much easier. The app will also feature a news feed which bring together the latest GMG editorial content and full account management which will include game key redemption.

That’s what we have been working on this week, we’ll keep you updated on any new features once they are in development.

If working on our new community is interesting to you and you know c#, why not send us your cv to [email protected] as we are currently looking for more talented developers.
