Playing as Amicia and Hugo de Rune once more, the time for innocence has passed and Requiem explores what happens next.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the family searching for a new home in the far south, so begins a new tale of survival. This time around, we\u2019re swapping the war-torn scenery for more vibrant settings on the French coast, leaving Aquitaine behind. It\u2019s a more colourful sequel but make no mistake, A Plague Tale: Requiem should be just as emotional as its predecessor. With over a month until launch, you might be wondering what we\u2019re in for this time around. Here\u2019s everything we know about A Plague Tale: Requiem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Plague Tale: Requiem – Release Date and Platforms<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Asobo Studio\u2019s upcoming sequel launches on October 18, 2022, arriving on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch (via cloud streaming). Costing \u00a343.99 on PC and \u00a349.99 on consoles, Requiem\u2019s also coming to Microsoft\u2019s Xbox Game Pass subscription. That\u2019s available day one for PC, consoles, and cloud. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike Innocence, Requiem\u2019s skipping the PS4 and Xbox One, which isn\u2019t too surprising since we\u2019re now two years into the current console generation. That said, anyone subscribed to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate can access the cloud version through your Xbox One, providing you\u2019ve got a strong internet connection. Mileage will vary but it\u2019s a potential workaround.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Plague Tale: Requiem \u2013 Gameplay and Setting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Taking us to 14th century Medieval France, Requiem sees the return of Amicia de Rune and her brother Hugo, six months after Innocence. Searching for a new home in Southern France, we\u2019re joined by their mother B\u00e9atrice and young alchemist friend Lucas but unfortunately, Hugo\u2019s powers have returned. Seeking a cure for Hugo’s blood disease, we\u2019ll need to avoid Inquisition soldiers and plague infested rat hordes. All while grappling with the emotional trauma of killing to survive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Plague Tale: Requiem\u2019s gameplay doesn\u2019t deviate far from Innocence, retaining that same action-adventure stealth gameplay in  third-person. Amicia needs to avoid hostile encounters where possible but unlike Innocence\u2019s instant kills, she doesn\u2019t die after one enemy hit and can return to stealth if spotted. Armed with several weapons, those range between knives to crossbows, which pierce armoured foes. Some locations have tar, used to increase light and set foes ablaze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unsurprisingly, Requiem places heavy emphasis on these infested rats. Using his connection to the plague, Hugo can now manipulate these hordes to his advantage, either for solving puzzles or killing enemies. He\u2019s also got an Echo ability that lets him see enemies through walls, a handy tool when in stealth. Like before, rats fear well-lit locations, but should you stray towards the darkness, they\u2019ll soon attack our brother-sister duo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Plague Tale: Requiem – Cast<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

So far, we\u2019ve only had a handful of cast members confirmed for A Plague Tale: Requiem. Returning from A Plague Tale: Innocence, Charlotte Burney and Logan Hannan are back as Amicia de Rune and Hugo de Rune, respectively. Lucy Briggs-Owen joins the cast as their mother, B\u00e9atrice de Rune, alongside Kit Connor as Lucas. Otherwise, much of A Plague Tale: Requiem\u2019s cast remains a mystery. It\u2019s unknown if Sean Bean\u2019s returning as the narrator but we\u2019ll keep this updated once we know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
