It’s the shortest month of the year, and that means you need to make the most of your time to take in everything coming to Xbox Game Pass in February 2021. With our handy roundup, you should have a good idea of which games deserve your time this month, and what you should prioritize downloading so that you can make the most of the service you pay for.
January was a fairly blockbuster month for Game Pass, introducing new AAA titles like The Medium and heavy hitter golden oldies like The Yakuza Remastered Collection. February is a little more measured by comparison, but it’s still early in the month – who knows what could arrive later down the line. Here are our picks based on what’s been revealed so far.
Project Winter (Cloud, Console and PC) – February 4
Have you been playing a lot of Among Us lately? Given the social deception genre’s incredible boom over the past few months, you may start to wonder about expanding your horizons beyond Innersloth’s killer imposter simulator. Project Winter is the perfect place to start if that’s the case. It’s a fully-3D social deception game where you can craft items and take on special in-game roles. It feels like a meaningful development of the ideas present in Among Us, taken in a different direction by a smart developer with plenty of plans for the future. Get your mates together and check this one out!
Jurassic World: Evolution (Cloud and Console) – February 11
For the Jurassic Park fans out there this one is a no-brainer, but more generally, Jurassic World: Evolution is a magnificent park simulator which those keen on the genre should take a look at. You’ll have to build attractions that rake in the customers while also sequencing dinosaur DNA to unlock new species for display. It adds a nice ulterior motivation to the typical park simulator premise, and as you might imagine, there’s plenty of potential for chaos. Give it a go!
Wolfenstein: Youngblood (Cloud) – February 11
Wolfenstein: Youngblood is only available in the cloud at the moment, which means that you need to have Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and an Android device to play it via the cloud streaming beta. But it’s a great excuse to check this game out, which is a wonderful co-operative narrative experience. Developed by MachineGames and Arkane Studios, the gunplay and the exploration make for a chocolate and peanut butter mix of talented ideas, and taking down Nazis never gets old.
Donut County
Added to Xbox Game Pass in mid-January, Donut County is an exceptional indie game where you play as a hole in the ground that eats objects to solve puzzles, Katamari-style. With its irreverent dialogue and wacky narrative, the game provides a wonderful aside that will have you occupied for hours, and its easily understandable mechanic keeps getting more interesting and fun to play with as the game progresses. If you want to play something totally unique this month, look no further than Donut County.
