FINAL FANTASY VI also know as FFIII back in the SNES era is one of the best Final Fantasy games mostly due to a great well written plot that greatly surpassed every other square game up to this point. On the other hand the game mechanics was a step back when compared to extremely rich system presented in FFV but overall mature plot from this game is worth checking out.
Absolutely Love this game! One of my favorite final fantasys. A lot of people complain about the art style, but I love it. And before you go and say "oh, he loves it because he never played the original" I grew up with the original pixel graphics. Easily one of the best Final Fantasy stories and gameplay out there (next to FFIX). The story is never boring, the battles are a blast, the cast of characters believable and the game, although old, holds up really well by today's standards. Yes, it's a port of a mobile game...but you know why? Because the interface works. I originally bought this game on my iphone and loved the interface, far more than the interface of I-V. When purchasing this copy on Steam, I was really hoping for the same interface as the mobile version, because its enjoyable. Don't listen to the snobs out there about the lack of pixel graphics or the interface...if someone doesn't play this game solely based off of one of those reasons, they don't truely appreciate this game for the art that it is. You won't find a better 2D JRPG like this out there, make sure to pick it up!
This is the one. This is the best final fantasy, and the only one who's story kept me immersed long enough to finish it. I haven't played VII, but I doubt it could keep me into the game as much as I was while playing this one. Great story, standard final fantasy combat, Overall great game.
Final Fantasy VI is the best Final Fantasy. End of story. Sadly though, this is a port of the mobile version. Even at that though, the game is still fantastic. For some reason, the general gamer population seems to think that FF VII is the "be all, end all" of the Final Fantasy universe, but although VII is a great game as well, the story doesn't match that of VI. Graphically, it's about what you'd expect from a port of an IOS remake of a SNES/Super Famicom original. Even though there are complaints to be had with the graphics, they still look pretty good. Music is outstanding (more so considering how long ago the game was released. No issues with the gameplay other than it is obvious you're playing a mobile port. I've only played it with an Xbox controller, works great, no idea how it controls with mouse/keyboard though, may wanna check some other reviews for that. If you're a fan of JRPG's, this is one of the best (actually THE best in my opinion) and you would do good for yourself to give it a go. And given it was released during the 16-bit console era, it holds up remarkably well and was truly a standout game of it's time, regardless of the genre. The ONLY reason for the 90 is due to it being a mobile port, had Square decided to give it a proper build (even with retro graphics) instead of taking the cash grab of porting the mobile version, I would not have hesitated to give it a perfect 100 score. It's that amazing of a gaming experience in my eyes. Easily makes my Top 10 games ever list.
I never got to play 6, and always wanted to try this one out. It looks pretty good on PC and runs very well. I like how the characters have set classes with special abilities that aren't all the same as everyone else.
