For honor is a game that has to be played over and over again. If you fall in love with it (and you will) you will buy the dlc's anyway, so it only makes sense, to invest in this, and save some money while doing it.
Ever watched a movie because the trailer looked badass and then the film itself turned out to be confusing and awkward? That's a decent summary of this game. The gameplay itself is hella fun, and the animation/graphics are gorgeous! However, the story mode is terribly underwhelming and B-movie quality, which leaves you with just the multiplayer, which is both a good thing and a bad thing. This game was originally designed to surround multiplayer, and you can tell by how much effort they put into the combat mechanics. The matchmaking is better now than it used to be (before it was so bad that every single game was a complete blowout), and they've been steadily adding content since release, but you will still run into a surprising number of salty and/or annoying players (I know, you can find them in every game, but it's more unique here). I don't know why, but this game drew in a large sum of unpleasant players faster than most games I know. If it weren't for the quality of online interactions, I'd give this 4 stars. Once again, the concept itself is fun and the gameplay itself is stellar with a high skill ceiling, high-action strategy and an unforgiving learning curve. But if you don't have much patience with online players or learning curves, this game might not be for you. My best recommendation is to play this with friends; it's much more fun when you can chat and play with people you know!
This isn't a bad game as far as what it is trying to be. For me, I have never played a game like this. The problem is the devs don't care about the customers and the game went from super promising during the beta stage, to complete crap now. The devs are now scrambling to "fix" the game when their "fixes" should have been included in the original release. I bought this game on GreenManGaming because I love this site, but for the love of god spend your money elsewhere on this site on a game worth buying. This was the worst use of my money perhaps in my entire life and if I could have a do over, I would have spent my money on a game that isn't complete garbage.
For Honor is a frustrating game. One month in, it feels like the Devs at Ubi are only half listening to the community. Player counts are hemorrhaging and the amount of abuse on the game's mechanics only speeds up that process. There is a very high skill ceiling and matchmaking can't find enough players around the same level, so most games are a blowout in one direction or another. It will be interesting to see if it turns into a R6: Siege situation where the current game is miles better than the release, because that seems to be the current Ubi development M.O.
i played the PlayStation Beta and heard alot of complaints about the PC version but most of the complaints are about boo hoo poor me i dont know how to play against a character that has an attack they have to spam in order to have the advantage it's unbalanced. No its more like they cant use their brains to overcome a challenge more like it. The biggest complaint is no dedicated servers that could be good or bad depending on if you have a great PC or not a top of the line pc isnt gonna be that affected by oh no i got china ping. yeah it is a problem but it's a manageable problem from devs that knowing ubisoft and the way they handled rainbow 6 siege to let something that was more popular then siege in beta and from what i know more popular then over watch currently, not that the 2 have any comparisons or beef with each other; but that means a game like for honer is swaying players away from over watch and both are very great games.
