I've been playing NBA 2k since 2k11 and I can personally say I've had as much fun now as I did back when I first started. What everyone says about the MyCareer is not FULLY true. Yes the story is boring and pointless, and yes rookie year is a waste. But, after rookie season you are in regular MyCareer and it is actually very fun. There is no more pointless hour long cutscenes, and its basically classic MyCareer. Besides the start of the MyCareer, this is the best basketball game to date. The crowd is amazingly realistic, the graphics and atmosphere is great, and the game runs very well.
Really good game. Make sure you have a controller however. To expand on my review a little bit, 2K has made strides to keep the community happy, while this hasn't always worked, the game keeps its consistency. With other modes then just "PLAY BEEEBAALL" like MyGM where you manage a team and can go as far as set ticket prices and keep players happy, to MyTeam which is a mode similar to Madden Ultimate Team where you gather cards to make a team to do challenges to get more cards and virtual currency to spend. I do have one con however, if you're looking for a constant online group to play with, this might not be it. In my own experience I can never get matched with people online, and when I do my connection gets dropped instantly, this includes all online modes such as The Park which is like a free for all basketball mode, allowing you to hop in a street game on command. I'm sure its different if you have friends that are willing to play, however I do not so I have to matchmake. My verdict is 8.9/10 Also if you're interested, there is mod support that 2K likes to keep under wraps, check out the NLSC forum for HD mods for players, stadiums, and all other sorts of enhancements.
I started playing Nba 2k games back in 2k15 and I used to strongly dislike basketball, but after playing that game, I love basketball and it taught me a ton about it. Although this game can be buggy at times, you can overlook it and enjoy the heck out of it. I strongly suggest picking up this game for a genuine basketball experience.
This is the next instalment in the great NBA 2k series. The graphics are superb and life like, the animations are extremely smooth and fluid. The music is brilliant and the gameplay is exciting. It is easy to get into and learn but hard to master and impossible to get bored from it, it has a great sense of progress and just keeps you going. However, the MyCareer mode is very bad, it has many racial stereotypes and limits the customization variations and flexibility. It can be strange at times and ambiguous at other times. Also, you should use a controller because there are many problems with configuring keyboards and many times it will not work. And the game can have problems with you using your real names and the characters all have one voice. This is the Michael Jordan edition, which includes Jordan T-shirt, shoes and Jersey for you to customize your MyPLAYER with. Additionally, 30,000 Virtual Currency lets you get a boost in the game and makes it really easy to get started. So all in all, a great game but with major flaws. Overall, 8/10.
