What you see in the screenshots is what you get with this game. You will literally replay the same 2 or 3 levels over and over ad nauseum to grind points to level up your character and skills. The entire game is like 30 minutes long, but will take you well over 10 hours with the excessive grinding that is required to make any progress. I enjoyed the game for a few hours, but it's way too repetitive and lacks variety. The enemies are randomised per dungeon and the bosses are overpowered. You don't really control much in this game either. Before you enter one of the few dungeons, you set up your attacks in the menu. Then the game executes the attacks in the order you chose. That's it. No depth to the combat. If you mess up your skills or their order, you are guaranteed to lose. You will spend hours grinding and exiting before you die, just to finally be strong enough or have good enough equipment to complete the dungeon. The final dungeon is too much of a chore. It is 100 levels, but you will exit it dozens of times and start all over again just so you can keep the loot you earned. It takes a lot of time to get your character strong enough to survive the final dungeon. This isn't a bad game if you like mindless gameplay, but bear in mind that you will only watch your character as seen in the screenshots. There is no actual moving or dungeon crawling. From what I remember, the pictures show off all the levels in the game. Get this game very cheap or don't get it at all. I personally bought this when it was first released and was very disappointed as I thought it was an actual dungeon crawler and the screens were just the combat. Again, the screens are exactly what this game is and nothing more is hidden beneath the surface.
Saga Skilltree is listed as a roguelike, but has only a slight resemblance, the game plays like an RPG random automatic. The game allows you to choose between three different races, including human, elf and dwarf even if this does not really have much effect on the history and skills can be acquired as are all the same. The story will take you to different dungeons, each area is designed uniqueley but do not have many backdrops so you will often see the same over and over again as you progress through the game. The story is fairly trivial. When you're not in a fight, you will be in the city that has the map screen, stores, inventory and skill window. The map screen allows you to travel to different locations to fight enemies. Once you are ready to venture into a dungeon and fight some enemies will be time to go to the screen underground. Here you will be able to display the menu of skills, inventory, health and mana. You'll also be able to view the type of enemy you'll be facing next. When you are ready to face the next opponent simply click the struggle and the battle will begin. The game uses a battle system automatically so you do not have control over what happens during the battle. Ultimately, Skilltree Saga is a decent game, but can have a very cliché plot and writing weak, the game can still appeal to those who are looking for something that does not require a lot of work on their part.
