"ISAAAAAAAAC!" (yeah, you will hear that a lot of times) So, Binding of Isaac is a nice little roguelike game with a weird little story, fun items/skills, and unlimited replayability because where every time you play everything is different! The protagonist is Isaac, and suffers a deadly afterlife because of his mother. Be prepared to meet all sorts of monsters - many of them are really tricky - that just wanna demolish you. In this hell of a journey (here comes the very fun part), you will find tons of items, some will give you skills and some will offer you different ways to kill your enemies. There's a couple of characters available for you to choose (it's not just Isaac), and each have some special stats. Overall, is it not a game that you will get bored easily or will shut it down after 30 minutes. It's addictive, every time you play everything's different, and there's also a DLC which adds a lot more content (highly recommended) and pushes Binding of Isaac to it's max potential. Though Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is a lot better (truth be told), this one of course is really good and a lot more cheaper! Just get it already, it's really fun!
Upon buying this game on sale I was a little unsure of how a game that looked like this had such amazing reviews. I was put off at first by the disgusting aesthetic of the enemies and world, but I got used to it and actually enjoy it now. The fact that levels are never the same, it controls perfectly, and is so easy to play for either 5 minutes or 5 hours makes this a must have. All the DLC make this game perfect and much more varied. I highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys challenging yet fair dungeon action games like old school Zelda. One problem I had with it was not being able to see or set my own "high scores". I guess every run is different for a reason.
The Binding of Isaac is unique in its own way. It's a game where we play as Isaac who has to go down to the basement to finally get strong enough to stand up against his mother and destroy her. Sounds crazy, and that's how this game is. The Binding of Isaac is an incredibly addictive rogue-like platformer. The key to success is to unlock new items and discover new and more "combos" created by combining the effects of the items we have acquired. The number of combinations is only limited by our imagination, and once we do all the combination we still have DLC that will introduce the next item to the game "combing". Great, crazy and solid game!
I'm a fan of rogue-likes. What made me love'em was this and spelunky. This game is like a mean version of Mash TV and Zelda dungeon. After nearly 80 hours of gameplay I won't comment on music, because I ignore it - there is winamp running in the background with Slayer, Arsis or some other mean, bad band and it fits for some reason. This game is addicting. If you've though Civ is bad, wait for this game to suck you right in. Yes, it is hard. Yes, it can be short. Yes, it can be unfair. But when you will get perfect match of items, you will get addicted. At first, it can feel short, especially when you will get good at it, you will "beat it" in like an hour. But "shortness" of this game is what is its strength, because multiple playthroughs unlock new characters, items, bosses and new stages. And believe me, after beating it once, you will obviously have not enough of it, especially when you unlock new characters and items. This game is full of content and doesn't get boring, because of how short it is. Even if you have bad run, you don't feel horrible about it, because you don't loose much progress and get make further in no time. Some of the rogue likes are downright brutal with forcing you to grind/play/invest for example 40 hrs to get good gear, level up characters only to get wiped by cheap death, putting your progress to horrible halt that you might as well restart. Here it's not the case. Every time, after all those hours I spent with this game, I find something new and still find this game really, really fun. The only thing bad I can say about it are the graphics, or rather performance. It's written in flash and they packed so much into this game, this game on high/max settings can kill your cpu and you can expect major slowdowns. Rebirth fixed it to a degree, though. What I find funny is that it's kinda about God, but when you will burn all those hours of your life away with this game, you will feel like Lord have forgotten about you by giving you this game, because there will be no force on the earth to make you stop, especially when you will attempt to get to the REAL final boss of the game. Once you will turn this game on, you will not be the same human being and will have a problem to put this game down... or rather turn it off. Still, I really recommend this game. It's all about what game should be about - gameplay, and not shiny graphics or horrible hollywood reject storytelling.
The graphics style of the game is unique and disturbing, the map (basement floor) is always different when you start a new game, with different enemies and different boss at the end, there are also items all around the map which give you more health, damage upgrades or other extras. You also have bombs to break rocks and take a lot of health from bosses, keep in mind that bombs are limited, and tears - not. The game doesn't have a save/load feature, so I just play it to see how long I can survive every now and then when I'm on a break,
