Yeah, compared to AAA games with millions of budget like BF or COD this game is really surprised me since it comes from an Indie developer , so i really was impressed by this amazing game! this game is completely based on teamplay so means that only one single person can NOT singlehandedly wipe down the entire enemy team and capture the trench line and ofcourse needs lots of teamwork. on the other side whenever you see some gas in the field , don't take the chances and try to charge through it because that one time you think it's Bromide gas or it's actually Mustard Gas and it's all to late for you! and you will be soon dead as meat. This is also some kind of Dying Simulator, so yeah you will die a lot in this kinda game which tells you now to get the game as soon as you get a chance and give it a try , so i advise your to stop reading these reviews, just grab it and experience it all by yourself, you know you that you will never really know until you do it by yourself and your own efforts will let you decide correctly.
When I was buying this game, I thought it's like battlefield 1. Well.. it is. But It's way better than BF in my opinion. I can recommend this game to people who dont mind about graphics and sounds, but tactics. The game is most realistic one I've ever seen, I am looking forward to play their new masterpiece, Tannenberg. Verdict: 8/10
Verdun is a really well made WWII FPS Shooter and it's kinda like BF1 from DICE although it might be a bit confusing at first but once you understand the basic mechanics then you'll be set to go. just like Battlefield 1 I recommend it in 4 players squad with COMs and the Visuals are good enough for this kind of shooter although it could be better at the time being considering the high end presented graphics in other modern games. Verdun touts its realistic gameplay and dedication to creating an atmosphere as close to being in the war as possible and of course it delivers it in best way. if you like WWII shooters like BF1 you would like Verdun too, so if you have friends to play this amazing game with them , don't hesitate and buy it while it's on sale!
I have 51 hours in this game and I've been playing since the ALPHA that game out several years ago. The game showed promise back then. So what have they done with the game 4 years later? Add new guns and horrible map. Every new map they've put out since they alpha has just been horrid and are universally reviled by the community. Flanders... Champagn... Douaumont... That's besides the point, in the past few years all they've done is add new content, when this base game still feels like an alpha. The graphics are pure piss, the gun sounds sound like they're recorded from a drum set, but nothing compares to express how horrible the controls are... They aren't "realistic" they're just clunky and broken. So why do people love this embarrassment of a game? Same reason I play it: it's the only ww1 game on the market. Once an actual good trench warfare ww1 game comes out this game will poof from existence. They seemed to have dodged the very large bullet that is battlefield 1 since bf1 isn't about trench combat, thus this game probably has another 2 years left in its life.
Verdun is a game that really aims to be a realistic depiction of how war was fought during WW1. I think in that respect it succeeds brilliantly. This is trench warfare as it really must have been: - waiting around for the enemy, and then getting shot in the head from somewhere you never saw coming. - going "over the top" of the trench on command of your squad leader, and getting mowed down almost instantly. - Capturing an area, only to be hammered with chemical gasses - putting on your gas mask, obstructing your visibility so you can hardly see where (or who) you are shooting. The gameplay is brutal and unforgiving, but hey, this is war! I love how the game doesn't make it "arcady" or easy. This makes it all the more rewarding when you get to kill someone. The graphics and lighting are really nice too, being nice and muddy in the trenches, but has a good selection of more colorfull maps as well.
