Yo-kai Watch is pretty good game, more or less kind of like Pokemon, because it is mostly about catching the creatures, called yo-kai (which are Japanese ghosts, spirits - yokai) and fighting with them other yo-kais, with more RPG elements than Pokemon, but also having a lot more quirkiness and humor for which Japanese games are very well known for. It is less western audience friendly and sequels improved on the formula and it was a shame it got released so late out of Japan, almost 3 years. Graphics and sound for 3DS game are pretty good, but gameplay needs much more refirement, which it got in the sequels. Overall good game, but more Japanese, fetch quest filled RPG than Pokemon.
The battle system can be a bit annoying and some of the "go fetch" kind of quests can be repetitive and very easy, but since this is an RPG, expect a bit of a grind. Its fun for the kids even if what you are doing is basically ghostbusting strange animal spirits...
