Nier: Automata is not going to be a game for everyone. But even for those people it is worth playing simply to see what Nier: Automata does with the medium of gaming as a whole. For everyone else, it's a fast paced spectacle fighting game, with a beautiful aesthetic, amazing music, and truly mind bending presentation. It is difficult to find much bad to say about the game. If I had to say anything, all I would say is that if you don't stick it through it's multiple endings the game may unwhelm you. Suffice it to say, if you do ever play this game, make sure to finish all the main endings! Playing Nier: Automata to completion is an experience that will probably never leave me. It has impacted me beyond any other game to this date. All I can say is that you absolutely must play this game!
If you play this series for the first time, you can only be satisfied with the main story, which is about the girl machine 2B, and its mission to protect humanity from the army of evil robots, and the story from this point does not have much depth and will not be a major attraction during the game. But if you dig deeper into the background of the story, even with short summaries of the last part, you start looking at the documents and the characters will begin to understand some of the deep details about what is going on around you, and here the story begins to turn into something interesting. The main character in the game is 2B, which is very distinctive, and the development team created its design, unlike the boy's 9S, which looks like the usual anime characters we can see in any business. Computer characters are mostly boring and uncharacteristic, with the exception of some key characters that you will know later. But perhaps the most beautiful aspect of the whole process is the relationship between 2B and 9S and the evolution of their characters with the events that take place around them. There are several main and subsidiary weapons to choose from, including heavy weapons such as swords and spears, and also a sub-weapon, a small machine that can fire at your enemies from a distance. The sub-weapon is the machine that can also use several special abilities for a brief period, including a shield against shots or a sword around you and hits everyone in your surroundings. The possibility of wonderful customization across some computer parts that can be installed, such as adding give you an additional 15% hit power or other make you faster in motion or do counter counter to enemy hits. You can give priority to offensive or defensive adjustments, or you can take a more balanced approach, it's up to you. The game will reward players for their curiosity and love for adventure and exploration, there are dozens of hours of play, especially if you want to get all the weapons and development and carry out the side tasks and reveal the secrets of the game in full. The game really suffers from repetition and procrastination, as some things could have been further abbreviated, and perhaps the most disappointing aspect of the game as a whole. Maybe automata are not for everyone, but if you're interested and want to dig deeper into them, you might find it worth it after all.
I have to admit I had no idea what to expect going in, maybe a JRPG type thing (not a genre I tend to play). From a gameplay perspective it's a highly enjoyable hack and slash game with a fascinating upgrade mechanic, good battles and beautiful and varied environments. Nier: Automata really shines when it comes to the story though, I found it quite a powerful experience with characters more complex than almost any title I've played since Soul Reaver probably. The music and sound play in beautifully to this as well. It's not without it's problems and I can totally understand people who didn't get in to it, for whatever reason it spoke to me though. It also knocked Legacy of Kain: Defiance off top spot for favourite game of all time, so there's that.
