Rage might have been an underwhelming game for many gamers but the DLC raised the level of the entire game. You cannot expect a lot from a DLC. It is bound to be short with some new missions, areas, weapons and difficulty. However this DLC manages to impress us and remove the shadow which was cast upon the game since it's release. Get the DLC to remove all negative thoughts from your mind regarding this game.
I was surprised by the amount, easy 2-3h of hardcore RAGE gaming. The girl who shows you the way has among the better game-rumps on the market. =) If you want a reason to keep playing RAGE. This is it.
This is a must get DLC for RAGE as it will allow you to continue your game to finish up anything that you might have missed since the main game will just end after you defeat the final boss. In addition to that, it also add another mission campaign that is roughly 3-5 hours long depending on how you tackle it. Not to mentions the new weapons that are also introduced to the game that you can use even in the main campaign. Lastly, the ultra nightmare mode gives the player more challenge on the main game by ramping up the difficulty scale. This is a must get to further enhance RAGE.
The missions that it adds are actually a lot of fun to do with a bit of variation from the main story. It gives you a rocket launcher pretty early (or late, depending on when you finish the Scorchers story) and the new gun is very useful. It's one gun with 3 different bullet cartridges. Rebar - basically arrows, usually a one hit kill that can pin the target to the wall. Reloads after 1 shot. Nails - Just like in quake, 100 bullets per cartridge. Rail gun - Shoots through walls, 1 hit kill massive kill. Again, right out of quake. The nails aren't very good late game, but the rebar & rail gun shots are useful all through out. The extra difficulty is pretty useful. Easy is so boring you shouldn't even bother. Normal is easier than most games' easy mode. Hard is still pretty easy. Nightmare is a little harder than normal at some points. Ultra nightmare, which is only playable with the DLC, is actually what other games would call veteran/expert/insane difficulty. All DLCs are short, this is no exception. It's a few missions, a new difficulty and a new gun. But if you're going to play through the game for the first time and can get this on sale, do it. It definitely adds to the game.
Very good DLC for a few bucks. The new weapon is very well balanced and the new story npcs are just hillarious. And after you finished the main story of Rage you can continue for sidequests and racing. If you liked RAGE do not hesitate for a second. The scorches is the perfect excuse to delve back into the dangerous lands of the Wasteland to face new and spectacular missions in some cases represent an improvement over the original views.
