Reviews for The Chronicles of Shakespeare - Romeo & Juliet

Artistic incursion into the world of Shakespeare

The Chronicles of Shakespeare- Romeo and Juliet is a nice adventure game, which emanates a strong Shakespeare flavour, through dialogues, environments and overall direction of the story. If you're looking for a Shakespear-ish game, you've got it. The static locations of the game are beautifully drawn, with some nice shading effects to go with them, making some look absolutely gorgeous, with much attention given to every little detail. Best of all, it looks exactly as you'd imagine a faithful staging of Romeo and Juliet. The sound part is rather lacking, though, with just a few sound effects, while the voice acting is also not really top notch. The music, however, is fitting and pretty good overall. Even though the famous story is smartly set into Shakespeare's life, contouring him as an interesting character as well, the gameplay has't got too much to offer. It's basically getting the right object into the right place, with a few simple puzzles to go with it. However, this does not hinder the game's quality much, allowing it to be a nice and faithful tribute to both Shakespeare and his most famous play.
