One of the best narration driven games I have ever played, with an amazing soundtrack to keep with the mood of any area. The art style was really different from any game when it came out, but even today still looks great. The narrator really does narrate just about everything you do, go on stand still for a bit and he will comment on it. The combat is a sorta top down hack/slash with a large variety of weapons, each with upgrades to fit how you want to fight it out. Overall I have played this game a few times and enjoyed every minute of it.
After Completing this Game (GEM) with all achievements I felt completely empty, The Music Is one of the best out there, The Narration Is Incredible, The Gameplay Mechanics are Great, Controls are very smooth, The Story Is a bit not so good but other stuff totally let you forget about any cons that you would say about this game, Its a must have for every pc gamer not only RPG fans, After 5 years of its release after trying most of 2016 games this one is the best, Just get it even at full price totally worth it!
There are so many great things about this game that I could type your ear off and provide a long read for everyone, but instead I'm going to keep this short. There really is no other game out there on the market quite like this game. A wonderful narrative driven story with combat movements and music that will keep you hooked on loving this game forever. 10/10 This game won't disappoint. I cannot express my feelings for this game into words other than this is a game you simply MUST play.
Bastion is a lovely designed game with astonishing visuals and music as well as easy to play controlls in an action/hack and slash RPG game from an isometric view. There is not more to say in a game that just does things the way it should be. It doesn't have any noticeable improvement or revolutionary game mechanic but it is perfect in everything he does: adaptive difficulty, replayability, everything gameplay related and everything non gameplay related. It could have improved some things, like that narrator which is constantly talking even when you are in a middle of an epic fight and you can't pay attention to what he is saying, or those weapons that devalues every time you grab a new one, but those are minor flaws in a game that does everything well.
When people talk about world building in rpgs, you don't expect actual world building. In Bastion, you do exactly that by rebuilding a fortress over time. The game just feels perfect from sound design, visuals, combat, to even the narrator himself. The game is really focused on the combat and it plays like a hack and slash. However, it hits that balance where it's just enough but not too much that it'll bore you. The enemies are varied and challenging to say the least, and they have their own backgrounds that you eventually come to realize. It was entertaining for me when I found out some of the enemies were a part of society in the past. If there was any other game to compare bastion to, I would compare it to Dark Souls. The lore and story isn't spoon fed to you, it comes to you in bits and pieces and making the final connection in the end makes it all worthwhile.
