Game description

Deceit tests your instincts at trust and deception in a multiplayer first-person shooter. You wake up in an asylum to the sound of an unfamiliar voice, surrounded by five others. A third of your group have been infected with a virus, but who escape? Whilst traversing the building the power will be going out creating darkness, allowing the infected players to transform into their terror form and strike. Find allies and complete objectives around the map to better your chances of survival.

The environment has been specifically setup to cause conflict amongst the group, creating doubt about the true intentions of players. The infected will be trying to cover up their group sabotage attempts, whilst the rest will be keeping an eye out for this suspicious behaviour and attempt to join forces with people they think they can trust.

As you progress through the map you'll come across objectives that will help you survive and progress towards the exit. However, you will need to decide which is most important to you, and whether to collaborate or fight with other players over them. With each decision gives players more information and an indication to what team you're likely to be on. However, the perception of each action won't necessarily be seen as a fair representation to others about your intentions as the truth can be easily skewed.

There are blackout periods across the map which allow for the infected to transform into what's known as their terror form. In this form they are much faster, stronger, and have night vision, with only one weakness: light. In this form the infected are truly terrifying, and with an array of intense killing animations players will be able to create some scary but also funny moments.

Overall, the gameplay involves the frenzy of fast paced combat mixed with strategic map positioning, and of course the psychological aspects of determining who is infected.

Great game, learn to not trust anyone.

If you are wondering if you should buy the game or not: Buy it. The price is very low for the amount of fun it can deliver to you. Just yesterday I had to stop streaming, because I was exhausted from laughing for 2 hours straight. Frankly that doesn't happen everyday, but if the right people meet in a lobby the amount of fun and confusion will peak through the roof. Newbies will get scared and run off into the gas, because there is too much spanking going on. Terrors will not transform, because they feel guilty on the inside. Weezers will try the longest of cons.

Great Game

There's aspects that I enjoy from this game very greatly. I cannot express the amount of fun I've had within my first hours of this game. While still in development, and at a fast rate the (shockingly little) amount of issues I've had will most likely be fixed soon. The gameplay is fluent, in combination with probably some of the best online social experiences I've had, wraps up to be one of the best investments in a while.

Can be fun if you have friends to play it with

Deceit is a multiplayer game for six people where two of the six start off as infected. You have to get through different areas of the maps performing simple activities like shooting things in order, jumping and staying on pressure plates, or standing in an area in order to get new weapons, armor, cameras, or kits that can test other players for infection. When you are infected you can see the other infected player and can do things to try to make other players think you are helping them such as standing on pressure plates for others to get items or you can try to fool players by getting a kit to test for infection, using it on the other infected player and saying that they aren't infected. You can also turn off "puzzles" to try to prevent other players from getting equipment. Everyone starts with a pistol and can kill each other by shooting at other players but there comes a time when there is a blackout in each area and the infected players can turn into monster that can melee other players, cameras being able to help against them with the light, and their power can increase by drinking blood bags that can be found on the map. If you have enough friends to fill out a game you can have fun with it but otherwise it will likely be a game to avoid as the shooting and "puzzle" elements aren't good enough and the community will be full of people either not playing right or not talking.

Good only with friends.

Deceit is one of those games that might be fun while playing with friends. The main idea is to figure out who has been infected and who is safe to cooperate. Deception and conning is what makes the game enjoyable. I recommend to get it only if you intend to play with someone you know, because playing with random players will only lead to frustration, so it's up to you.
