"Doom 3 is a very good game, probably better than you remember. For PS3 owners who've never gotten any of this content, it's a particularly great deal. BFG Edition is a tough sell for the PC crowd." - IGN.com

It's DOOM for godsake, people are still playing the original release since it was published. In terms of replay value, it doesn't get much better than this. BFG edition contains the entire DOOM franchise all in one fairly tidy package, you'll easily get hundreds of hours of gameplay out of it. Rough edges aside, this collection is arguably one of the best of all time and deserves a place in any fps library. Just as long as you consider this release an Ultimate Collection, instead of the remaster they wanted you to believe it was.
Basically, BFG edition is remastered version of Doom 3 with upgraded textures and some major fixes, like getting rid off of flashlight and finally mounting it to weapon instead of making it one. There is also really awesome Resurrection of Evil standalone expansion and 8 new levels simply called "The Lost Mission", which is about first marine going down to the gates of Hell. Sadly, it doesn't bring anything new to the table and is only rehashing content that was already in both Doom 3 and Resurrection of Evil. There's also Ultimate Doom and Doom 2 with expansion episode "No rest for the living" included in this package and while those are still great games to play. Sadly, some changes are for the worse, like incredibly harsh censorship, like removing/toning down blood, removing some imagery, which takes away atmosphere a little. Still, for this price, it's good package for Doom 3 alone, as for Ultimate and 2, you're better off getting Doom classic complete.
This game brings back memories into a new "newgen" graphics. To be honest it looks bad comparing to original. 68/100
This game is a blast to play. The graphics are updated to match modern games. Those complaining claiming the original Doom 3 graphics were better or almost the same must have horrible graphics cards or don't know how to use them. I replayed this recently for my Youtube channel and this was the most fun I have had in years on a game. Constant on the edge of your seat action once you get past the introduction section. Takes about 25mins then all hell breaks loose literally and it just gets faster paced as you go on. Can't wait for Doom 4 now.
Doom 3 came into some stick when it first came out, some people didn't appreciate the push toward a more horror feel in the game, others complained about the fact that you had to switch out your weapon for your flashlight to see what is creeping around in the corridor ahead, then comes BFG and tapes your flashlight to your gun and people complained that the game lost its focus, damned if you do, damned if you don't I guess, but all that aside the game is actually very enjoyable, I personally like the new direction, the oppressive atmosphere fit the subject matter, you have demons warping in from god knows what dimensions and I think the horror aspect fits with that, the gun play is quite good, a bit of a corridor slog, most of the time you are moving from a corridor to a big room to another corridor and so on, but to be honest I prefer that to being lost having to double back 50 times like in doom 2 to find the right sequence of doors to go through to advance.
