Horse Racing Manager lets you enjoy the sport of kings at all levels. Choose whether to play the game as an owner, breeder, trainer, jockey or punter. Each activity will require specific know-how that you will be able to acquire with each play.
As an owner, you will have to keep an eye on your finances and optimise the working time of your staff as well as yours.
As a trainer, you will have to prepare your horses according to the goals you will have set for the season, bearing in mind each horse's characteristics and your financial constraints. Your ultimate goal as a trainer will be to improve their overall characteristics to their maximum capacity.
As a breeder, you will seek and hopefully find the right matches for reproduction; you will also be in charge of the weekly report on each of your horses.
As a gambler, you will be able to visit the most famous racetracks and follow the greatest races, live. You will have to use all your gambling skills to increase your initial capital and avoid bankruptcy.
As a jockey, you will have to show your talents as a competitor and strategist in real time. Take into account your horse, the competitors, the racetrack, the weather conditions in order to have a chance to win.
Become a solo expert and then come face the other players in a LAN or on the internet, either in the racing or in the betting mode.
I bought this game new, years ago. Loved it. It is challenging to begin with until you figure out how to start making money. You get to control every aspect of the horses lives, from feed, to shoeing, to training & racing. Has harness racing, steeplechase, and flat racing. You can also ride the horses in the jockey simulation (which can be done from the managing aspect). It does have some graphic issues, and a few minor glitches with horse stats when you get several generations into breeding. Nothing that made me not buy this game TWICE since I lost my original copy. LOVE this game.
A fun horse racing game where you can actually participate in harness racing. This is so rare as almost every popular horse racing game out there basically just deals with thoroughbreds. I was thrilled to find a game that allowed me to feel like I was participating in something my uncles and aunt do and I hope to do someday too and that is train, own and drive standardbreds. Now if you get tired of harness racing you then also have the option to jump into the world of thoroughbreds. Very cool to have so much of horse racing covered. Graphically the game is easy on the eyes although there is one glaring flaw which is when you hit the finish line the horses stick there and keep moving til all have finished the race so a strange graphical issue but nothing game breaking for me. Now while it is no Crysis or some other amazing looking game it does what it needs to do to make you happy and feel like you are at the track. You feel your heart pounding and the will to win when riding the horses and positioning them at different intervals during the race. In the stretch when you don't have enough energy left and your horse tires your shoulders sag and you feel disappointed. It really feels like being at the track. In regards to sound effects I guess they are average at best. It would be nice to have announcing but then again with the wrong voice actor it could have turned out dreadful so maybe not doing it was a safe move. Honestly if you really love horse racing and want a game that can put you on the track and make you feel like you are really riding/driving one of these animals then this is the game for you. Now if you are more about betting and just managing you can do that too. LAN play worked properly for me. No issues there. Btw both pcs were using Windows 7 64 bit. I took 10 points off as maybe there could be better sound presentation to the game and I took 5 points off because once you get a certain pattern down it does make it fairly easy to win races with the better horses. Bottom line ... should you buy if you want a great horse racing experience? Yes.
Having heard of this game years ago back when it came out, and having been unable to find it until it popped up on GMG, I didn't really know what to expect when going into it. What I found was a solid game for fans of all different aspects of the horse racing industry. More into the breeding and training side of things? That's here. Like gambling on the ponies, but don't feel like losing real-world money? You can do that in HRM. But the best part of all, in my opinion, is this: why watch the jockeys when you can be one? There is, to my knowledge, no other horse racing sim out that lets you play the jockey side of things in full 3D, and it's done very well, too. HRM runs great on Windows 7 64bit, and I've yet to have it crash, even after several straight hours of play. It's a solid, slightly older game to tickle the horsey bones in those of us that don't have anywhere near enough money nor time to get into the industry. Highly recommended!
This game is simply amazing, you can choose from various modes to play. The first is coach, where you are the coach of a jockey and you can manage the training, the horse etc. The second is betting mode, were you can bet on a horse and win money when it wins The third mode is the best mode, where you are the manager of a stable, and you have to buy horses, sell horses, feed them build stables etc. Overall this is a great game with huge complex possibilities, definitely buy this one.
