Mad Max delivers open world gameplay in a post-apocalyptic setting where cars are the key to survival. Gamers become Mad Max, a lone warrior who must fight to stay alive in The Wasteland, using vicious on-ground and vehicular combat against savage gangs of bandits. Following the theft of his iconic Interceptor, Max must align himself with a gifted, but peculiar, mechanic named Chumbucket and others to build the ultimate war vehicle as he works to escape from the dangerous Wasteland.

Key Features:

  • Be Mad Max - Become the iconic post-apocalyptic warrior, crafting and upgrading Max’s equipment and weapons to survive by combining melee combat, gunplay and tactical techniques. Gamers must make difficult decisions as they work towards the goal of escaping The Wasteland.

  • Immersive Primal Wasteland - Explore the gritty, dynamic world while braving the treacherous landscapes, hostile weather patterns and deadly gangs of marauders.

  • Trash is Treasure - Every scrap that’s scavenged is important and can be utilized to upgrade and enhance equipment, weapons and vehicles. Gamers raid enemy encampments to gain access to valuable resources.

  • Survive the Open-World Landscape - Staying alive isn’t easy. Players clash with deadly factions and gangs through scores of dangerous side-missions and quests in the dynamic open-world full of exploration.

  • Intense Vehicular Combat - Engage in dynamic inter-vehicular combat, taking down enemy vehicles with a range of powerful weapons. Car combat is entirely physics-based, so no two battles are ever the same.

Riding along in my automobile.

It's an open world game about going about punching people, shooting others, and doing jobs for the rest. All with the goal of making your ride better and snazzier. Oh, and something about revenge for your old ride which some people jacked from you. Expect lots of driving and car ramming, with some hilarity thrown in for good measure.

A movie based game that's actually good!

I was expecting a meh open world game and instead got pleasantly surprised by the game. So much I had to 100% it (around 60-70h of content). (+) - Really managed to capture the atmosphere of Mad Max and its universe in my opinion. - Great driving and car combat feel. - Good ground combat, meaty and responsive (similar to Batman or Shadow of Mordor, although a bit inferior). - Very good graphical fidelity. - Pretty good story, surprisingly. - Loads of content, camps and scavenging places are varied (you obviously have to like open world exploration and collectibles). - Storms are amazing! (-) - Bosses are really the weak point of the game, they all have the same tactics and patterns. - Ground combat can become a bit repetitive and lacks a bit of depth. - They could have exploited "big vehicles" combats a little bit more (more of them, more challenging, more depth). If you like Mad Max and/or open world games, go for it!

Devil on the road!

Mad Max shows us a vision of a post-apocalyptic world filled with dirt, rust and dust. And this world is the biggest advantage of this game. The great climate, coherence of the presented world and the preservation of the protagonist's film spirit. Functional and inventive locations are great designed. Game looks beautiful - graphics is another advantage and it is well optimized. Extensive system of improvements for Max and his car is nice solution, we have to work hard if we want to unlock some skills. But everything is not so great - storyline is simple and schematic, gameplay is monotonous and many quests are repetitive. To sum up - Mad Max is great sanbox game with amazing climate, but it is a bit boring.

Into the wasteland

After long years, cancellations, silence, rumours we got this game in timely fashion, just few months after big and glorious return of Mad Max to the big screen with Fury Road. The game is created by the same developers who made Just Cause and as far as open world goes, it's great fun. There is a lot to explore and find, optimisation and graphics are great, same goes for the sound, gameplay is also good, but sadly repetitive after longer sessions. Hand to Hand combat is more or less based on Batman Arkham, but it is more violent and gruesome with voices of broken bones and how camera shakes with every heavy, savage punch. It's incredibly satisfying, same for the shotgun and other weapons. Driving also feels good, but the world is too big for it's own good and the game gets repetitive and kind of boring if you want to 100% it. Main plot itself is incredibly basic and short, without the padding of driving and collecting, it would be 5 hours tops, but with all the grind and looking for everything it turns into 10-15 hours. The game is full to the brim with content, though, and if you want to do everything or most side activities, you're looking easly at 45 hours of gameplay, which is nice. Good game to pick up on sale, especially if you love car combat, since it's great.

What RAGE should have been.

This game is absolutely incredible if you love open worlds, you love Batman Arkham combat, and you love customizing cars and ramming them into things. If you also happen to love the world of Mad Max, you are in heaven. This is far better than any of the Just Cause games, in my opinion, as it really shows the depth and wide assortment of skills Avalanche Studios has at its disposal. I'd highly recommend this game to anyone and everyone. Even the end provides you with more content than you'd expect.
