Magicka is an action-adventure game set in a rich fantasy world based on Norse mythology. The player assumes the role of a wizard from a sacred order tasked with the ultimate goal of stopping an evil sorcerer who has thrown the world into turmoil, his evil creations besieging the forces of good.

Players will be able to combine the elements to cast spells, wreaking havoc and devastation on the minions of darkness. They will also be able to team up with friends and fight their way through the campaign, or test their skills in the magickal arts in other challenging modes.

In Magicka, up to four players take on a grand adventure to save their world from certain doom using a fully dynamic spell system. The adventure mode takes the players across three different levels, ranging from the lush forests of mountain valleys to the frozen halls of the Mountain King where wits and creative thinking are keys to victory.

In the unlockable hardcore challenge modes, players fight off waves of enemies to earn their place on local and online leaderboards.

Reviews for Magicka

Magicka is fun. Period. In this game, you follow the story of a mage, fighting to save the world from a powerful warlord, while helping humans to survive attacks of trolls, and being guided by Vlad (who definitely is not a vampire). The game is full of references, but have a humour of is own. With 8 buttons, you can combine some elements, and cast a variety of spells, like a cone of fire, a ray of frost or healing mines. The elements react to the world, so trying to cast electric spells while in a pool of water or casting fire spray when over the thin ice, might not be the best idea. The game is very fun, but it becomes even funnier when playing with friends. Up to four players, casting spells on enemies, and occasionally on friends. Did i mention that the game has friendly fire? Well, it's fun to cast arcane+shield, to create powerful mines that will explode your enemies, and send your friends (sometimes even yourself) flying out of the screen.

This is FUN

It's a damn funny game, especially with friends. It has a lot of references, and its story is very enjoyable, besides having a unique gameplay that lets you create your own style of play. It is highly recommended to buy a 4pack so you can beat the story in co-op mode.

A Classic

If you ever google "the most unique games on pc", you'll most likely stumble across Magicka at some point. Magicka is a multiplayer game (single player too, but everyone knows a coop game is better with other people) where you need to create spells using different elements, basically creating a combo system with your keyboard. The spells vary from a simple laser to an absolutely enormous blast of ice to a fire wall to a water jet. The possibilities aren't endless, but considering you have eight different elements, this quickly becomes one of those "easy to learn, hard to master" type of games. Magicka is a blast with friends, not so much alone. When playing coop (up to 4 people), you can combine your spells, creating even more diversity. The game is also full of humor, and you'll certainly have some laughs with it. Recommended to play with at least one more friend.

Unique game genre

Magicka is an RPG with unique game mechanics and unlike other RPG's magicka got its own way of play so that you wont have to gain exp to level up or collect items that only boost your stats, The items you collect change many things from attack animations to abilities to certain ability powers, Combine spells to create unique powers that blast enemies or even heal you, Collect magicka to unleash devastating spells that can even revive you and your team mates, The world of magcika is full of secrets be sure to keep your mind open while playing, Magicka is best played with a friend so grab someone to play with in order to enjoy it to the fullest.

Lot of references

I really liked the constant references to other games, movies, books, intellectual properties, etc. This game lets you create almost any kind of spell. There are many different effects you can get from your spell. The tricky part was memorizing them and typing them out in the middle of a engagement. Once I found a powerful spell like the thunderbolt, I used it against most enemies. However, that same spell would not work indoors, forcing me to think creatively. The environment plays a big part in your spells, as to increasing its power or turning it back on you. There are lots of secrets to find and achievements to earn. A very good game that doesn't feel like a waste of time.
