The Need for Speed.

Back in the day when Need for Speed was one of the most beloved series in racing games, this Midnight Outlaw feels like a mix of Need for Speed Hot Pursuit and Need for Speed Underground. The game moves in the thin line between simulation and arcade, but falls into the second one most of the time. Customization, a big map to race in and some interesting game modes makes this game fun, but there are better games in this genre. IA is cool, and makes the game challenging at some points. This is just the standard racing game, don't expect brand new mechanics but they work. Also have in mind that there are lots of trouble to make this game run if you are using a modern OS. You can make it work, as I did -just search the forums-, but if you don't like struggling with things like that you might want to avoid it. As for the game, fun as I said but not enough to get it at full price. Wait for a sale if you are interested on it.

An old racing game that was only average even at release

Midnight Outlaw is a passable racing game that features a good number of tracks and locations and variety of game modes. The cars control well enough but does nothing particularly well. The game features cutscenes and cops chasing you but doesn't do that as well as Need For Speed, customization options are nowhere near as varied as Forza, and driving itself is better done in many other titles. Midnight Outlaw ends up being average in almost every way, when combined with the game being 10 years old with the price you can likely find better options. Many people have trouble getting this game to run on modern computers, I was able to get it to work by following a solution posted in the games forums on Steam, changing settings seems to work for some people but not for others.
