Game description

Pokémon Red Version and Pokémon Blue Version introduce legions of gamers to the world of Kanto, where the likes of Charmander, Pikachu, and Mewtwo were first discovered. Through exciting exploration, battles, and trades, Trainers are able to access 150 Pokémon.

You begin your journey in Pallet Town as a young boy. After a dangerous brush with wild Pokémon, Professor Oak teaches you how to capture Pokémon, and then sends you on your way as a fledgling Trainer. During your journey through Kanto, you must capture Pokémon to record their information in your Pokédex, as well as become a better Trainer by competing in Gyms scattered throughout the region. Once you've proven your mettle as a Pokémon Trainer, it's time to take on the Elite Four, a crack group of Trainers that will put all of your learned skills to the test.

Your journey will be far from easy. In addition to the many Trainers and wild Pokémon you'll encounter along the way, you'll also have to be watchful of Team Rocket, a despicable group of Pokémon thieves. Prevent Team Rocket from stealing rare Pokémon and stop their criminal ways!

You won't be able to catch every Pokémon in either Pokémon Red Version or Pokémon Blue Version; to collect every Pokémon, you'll have to trade with friends. You can also take your team of faithful Pokémon into battle against your pals to see how well your team stacks up! There's much to see and do in Pokémon Red Version and Pokémon Blue Version. Start your journey through Kanto and become a Master Trainer!

Back to basic

Tired of playing the new fancy Pokemon moon/sun? Then direct your eyes to this gem! Here you will not have a nice rival, he will be waiting for you at the worst places - when you have been fighting your way through an area, he will be on the other side with full health Pokemon. So what is the difference between this and Pokemon red? Nothing really, only which Pokemon you can find in your game. And relax, Pikachu is available in both. I played this on my brick of a GameBoy when it was released, and I still play it but now on my 3DS. That's how good this game is.

That damn 100'th level Blastoise

Pokemon blue was my little brothers version back in the day, and he loved this game! To be fair, there isn't much difference between red and blue, just that there are a few Pokemon, that aren't around in both versions, so you have to trade them, to get all 150 (151 actually ). Pokemon is a straightforward JRPG, the only difference is, your warriors are animals, you have to catch and train in the wilds, so you can use them to fight other trainers, and in the end, win the world cup of pokemon training, and become the master. A pretty fun game all in all, even though it can be a little tedious, especially if you have to grind, so you can train up a few of your pokemon. And yeah, there is a lot of grinding.
