Reviews for Ride! Carnival Tycoon

A poor mans Rollercoaster Tycoon

Carnival Tycoon has you setting up a small carnival in a flat vacant area of land. You place rides, restrooms, power stations, games, food stands, etc set the prices, and try to attract customers. The game lacks any of the challenge or interesting features of similar tycoon games. You will end up just throwing down attractions and setting the game to a faster speed while making money. The placement of things does not have an effect on anything, the area is so small that you don't have to put any thought into where bathrooms, benches, or trash cans go. You only need a few employees to clean the place. You can not customize the environment, terrain, or build unique interesting rides. The game allows you to sit on a ride in a first person view but there is no reason to do this as the rides are slow, boring, and the graphics of the game are poor. The AI of the people visiting your carnival and of your employees is poor, often they seem to move around aimlessly. The game is perfectly functional there are just much better things to spend your money on, even games focused on managing similar attractions.
