The world of Shelter 2 is growing. Mountains is an add-on package that introduces a vast new highland area and a strong new fauna that can act as both predators and prey.
The Lynx mother Inna and her cubs discovers a new area on their journey. A vast mountain landscape where dense lowland forests leads up to the vistas of the mountain tops. But they are not alone on the high peaks. The fauna here blurs the line between predators and prey, and the Lynx family must use both wits and agility to overcome the challenges of this new world.

Usually exploration based games get criticized by me for lacking tension, but Shelter 2's predator-prey mechanics do a fine job of keeping the game lively. However, the game is lacking in many other ways. While the art style looks unique at first, there isn't a while lot of variation. Also, the music gets old fast. The fact that they only included two songs shows you they weren't expecting you to get a lot of playtime out of this game. The exploration is also lacking. Because there is no real plot to the game, discovering new things isn't super exciting like in, say, Gone Home. While this game is an interesting idea, it isn't really worth buying.
If you know me, I absolutely love exploration and discovering new, cool, little things around, hidden within the world. I can spend countless hours in this game exploring the mountains and making some stops to check out the beautiful scenery. There are some cool, amazing secrets to find as well. First off, the gameplay is very, very nice and a bit different than most games like this. It just feels good and different, which is nice. The game's art-style is just gorgeous and the music is wonderful. Mechanics are great, quite original. Game is simple and easy to get down. I just love this game for what it is and how it does things. I highly, highly recommend this to anyone that loves exploring and being out in the wild.
