The Deluxe Edition of Tales from Candlekeep can inherently be considered the version the game should've been from the beginning, instead of getting truncated into the actual regular version and its DLCs. This outcome stems most likely from the developers' desire to earn more money; What this version of the game brings to the table are the so called accelerators that allow you to progress through the game faster, and also game enhancers (additional adrenaline, without which the stat in the original version always felt not quite enough, extra experience, gear and gold). With them, the game looks exactly as it should be. It all seems pretty dishonest to me. What can be said in this version's favor is that it allows for an ungodly amount of randomness. Randomness is in everything: random tiles, events, monsters, item drops - it all depends on the roll of the D20 dice. Although the gameplay is somewhat monotonous, thanks to this fairly well-realized system, it's still interesting to play. The available heroes are also very varied, not only in appearance, but also in their abilities: one, for example, is very adept at physical battle and only that, another is a sorcerer, a third is a marksman, and a fourth a master of all trades (in one word, a bard). System requirements are very low, so that's definitely a plus for those that don't own the more recent cutting edge rigs; the graphics are pleasant enough and from a technical aspect everything works without any complaints. However, something that's not so praise worthy is the fact that the game can feel very monotonous after a while: in a couple of hours, when all the game's mechanics have become familiar to you, it can be pretty boring to do the same thing over and over again, like getting new levels or materials for crafting, and there is simply no other way to develop heroes. Another downside is the plot. It's not really there. The whole story of this adventure is already told in the description for the game. For the whole game, there are only four music tracks: menu, jungle, dungeon and battle with the boss. Very scarce, in my opinion. The sound effects are slightly better, but not by much. I cannot say that I liked the game, but it wasn't bad either. The main quest wasn't long enough and the side quests did not bring me much enthusiasm. The idea is beautiful, but the game clearly requires more development. I really hope that the creators will gradually add content from the previous four games. This will greatly increase the variety of monsters, terrain, characters and plots. Overall. I would recommend this version to all fans of the tabletop version, tactical battles and DnD as a whole, though cautiously.
