Game description

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege is part of the acclaimed first-person shooter franchise developed by the renowned Ubisoft Montreal studio.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege invites players to master the art of destruction. Intense close quarters confrontations, high lethality, tactics, team play, and explosive action are at the center of the experience. The gameplay sets a new bar for intense firefights and expert strategy in the rich legacy of past Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six games.

Key Features

THE SIEGE GAMEPLAY

For the first time in Rainbow Six, players will engage in sieges, a brand-new style of assault. Enemies now have the means to transform their environments into strongholds: they can trap, fortify, and create defensive systems to prevent breach by Rainbow teams.

To face this challenge, players have a level of freedom unrivaled by any previous Rainbow Six game. Combining tactical maps, observation drones, and a new rappel system, Rainbow teams have more options than ever before to plan, attack, and diffuse these situations.

COUNTER TERRORIST UNITS

Counter terrorist operatives are trained to handle extreme situations, such as hostage rescue, with surgical precision. As “short range” specialists, their training is concentrated on indoor environments. Operating in tight formations, they are experts of close quarter combat, demolition, and coordinated assaults. Rainbow Six Siege will include operators coming from five of the most worldwide renowned CTU: the British SAS, the American SWAT, the French GIGN, the German GSG9 and the Russian SPETSNAZ.

These Operators are specialists with their own expertise within Siege operations. Each has their own unique personality & specialty. Some are focused on assault where as others are defense-oriented. They can be combined within the same team to create new team strategies.

PROCEDURAL DESTRUCTION

Destruction is at the heart of the siege gameplay. Players now have the unprecedented ability to destroy environments. Walls can be shattered, opening new lines of fire, and ceiling and floors can be breached, creating new access points. Everything in the environment reacts realistically, dynamically, and uniquely based on the size and caliber of bullets you are using or the amount of explosives you have set. In Rainbow Six Siege, destruction is meaningful and mastering it is often the key to victory.

Great game. Starter edition not recommended.

This game is really great. Very unique. Teamwork is a must. The casual mode isn't very casual though. Not much difference between casual and competitive. Players take casual very seriously! I would not recommend the starter edition of the game. It was $20 CAD, then went on sale for $34 CAD a month later. It take an extremely long time to unlock operatives. I would recommend getting it on sale instead of the starter edition.

Finest Multiplayer Shooter available

I've had hours of fun playing Rainbow Six Siege online, as the multiplayer community is helpful and friendly. The game has in-game purchases, but are completely optional, and you can advance fairly quickly without them. The tactical strategy needed in this game may take a while to master, but once you fully understand the dynamic in Rainbow Six Siege, you'll feel like you've wasted your time with other FPSs like CS:GO. Playing with friends is the most fun aspect of it. Prepare for hours of adrenaline-fueled gaming in Rainbow Six Siege. Overall an excellent game!

Cops and Robbers with less AI

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege is a game all about fighting the other team. It doesn't make much sense to word it like that, especially when I haven't even explained what team there is and who the 'other' team is, but this is the core gameplay of the game. One team plays as the good guys; the other plays as the bad guys. The good guys will try to disarm bombs, rescue hostages and eliminate the bad guys. The bad guys on the other hand must prevent the good guys from disarming the bomb, stop them from rescuing the hostage, and eliminate them before they cause too much trouble to their operation. That is Rainbow Six Siege in a nutshell. Sounds interesting, right? Well, you're right. It is interesting and can be fairly fun. But the game needs to make some major improvements before it becomes a title that you'd want to play for more than an hour or two at a time. Teammates: Of course you have your new people, but you also got your trolls too. Teammates killing other teammates is a thing in this game, so you got to be careful. Sometimes it happens by accident, and sometimes it is done intentionally. But in eithercase teammates are the one reason why you don't want to play this game and why you would. Group up with some friends or good random players and get out there and fight against others. Matchmaking: The game has an issue with long wait times for matching teammates together. While instantaneous matching is unreasonable, matchmaking can still take anywhere between a minute to three minutes. In most cases it would be quicker to request a rematch with your opponents once your best of three matches are done. Balancing: The developers are, at the time of writing this review, actively working towards making the game work better and play better, including balancing characters' various abilities. It takes time to improve, both as a player and for performance to become better too, but as it stands now the game is in a good state. So, what does this game offer that makes it so interesting? A variety of characters. You have characters that can bust holes in floors or walls; characters that can shoot long-range drills that attach to walls and cause explosions on the other side; characters that can setup machine guns and characters that can set up booby traps. And while this may seem like a fair bit of variety, this isn't all of the characters in the game. This isn't even a quarter of them. There is definitely no shortage of variety. How do you unlock characters? You play. You win your currency dog tags and continue playing. Characters belonging to a set or focused group become more expensive the less of them you have left to unlock. Is that it? Besides a Terrorist Hunt mode, that is it. This game's main focus is playing against other players after all. And while normally you would expect a game like that to be cheaper, this isn't. It's a bit of a steep price, which is what makes it difficult to justify buying the game. However, if you are familiar with other online multiplayer focused games, then this would be no different. And that is why I do recommend this game, but only if you can get it on sale for some percentage off.
