Game description

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege is part of the acclaimed first-person shooter franchise developed by the renowned Ubisoft Montreal studio.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege invites players to master the art of destruction. Intense close quarters confrontations, high lethality, tactics, team play, and explosive action are at the center of the experience. The gameplay sets a new bar for intense firefights and expert strategy in the rich legacy of past Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six games.

Key Features

THE SIEGE GAMEPLAY

For the first time in Rainbow Six, players will engage in sieges, a brand-new style of assault. Enemies now have the means to transform their environments into strongholds: they can trap, fortify, and create defensive systems to prevent breach by Rainbow teams.

To face this challenge, players have a level of freedom unrivaled by any previous Rainbow Six game. Combining tactical maps, observation drones, and a new rappel system, Rainbow teams have more options than ever before to plan, attack, and diffuse these situations.

COUNTER TERRORIST UNITS

Counter terrorist operatives are trained to handle extreme situations, such as hostage rescue, with surgical precision. As “short range” specialists, their training is concentrated on indoor environments. Operating in tight formations, they are experts of close quarter combat, demolition, and coordinated assaults. Rainbow Six Siege will include operators coming from five of the most worldwide renowned CTU: the British SAS, the American SWAT, the French GIGN, the German GSG9 and the Russian SPETSNAZ.

These Operators are specialists with their own expertise within Siege operations. Each has their own unique personality & specialty. Some are focused on assault where as others are defense-oriented. They can be combined within the same team to create new team strategies.

PROCEDURAL DESTRUCTION

Destruction is at the heart of the siege gameplay. Players now have the unprecedented ability to destroy environments. Walls can be shattered, opening new lines of fire, and ceiling and floors can be breached, creating new access points. Everything in the environment reacts realistically, dynamically, and uniquely based on the size and caliber of bullets you are using or the amount of explosives you have set. In Rainbow Six Siege, destruction is meaningful and mastering it is often the key to victory.

Amazing game just give it some playtime!

I really liked this game from the start but i noticed a lot of my mates wasn't too keen on it at first but i forced them to keep playing for a few hours playtime while they got used to it and now they love it! It's like Cod/battlefield on steriods with loads of tactics involved! Amazing game, worth the buy, they keep adding free DLC, it is a playtime game, no pay to win! If you thought about buying it, definitely do!

Very enjoyable game with the right people

Rainbow Six Siege is a team based FPS with a focus on multiplayer gameplay. The single player campaign has always been a large part of the series appeal, that has unfortunately been removed and instead has some training missions with an opening and ending cutscene that doesn't really make any sense with the game's multiplayer, these levels all take place on the maps used for the multiplayer and co-op modes. While there is no single player the game did keep its co-op terrorist hunt mode where you fight against the AI, for some reason you are unable to choose what map and game mode you want to use though. The terrorist hunt mode does give you a little more variety with bomb defusal, hostage rescue, and defense objectives in addition to the usual kill all the enemies mode, the hostage defense mission also gives a bit more variety by allowing you to choose what are you want to use on the map to defend at with a choice of four locations on each map. While you can't choose which map or mode to play with, you can choose to retry failed or won maps, which is nice on defense missions where you might want to try to hold each of the four rooms. The game is very reliant on you having a good team that can work together. At the start of and during matches you can use drones to locate enemies or your objectives, walls and doors need to be breached, barricades and defenses need to be set up, and characters have unique weapons and abilities. The game currently has 24 different character each with their own loadout, special ability, and different armor and speed ratings with at least four more characters being added to the game in the coming months. The characters are split up with 12 being available for attacking teams and 12 for defense teams. Characters might be able to set up mines and shock traps to slow or kill enemies, break down walls with a sledgehammer, disable or detect electronic devices, make use of different kinds of shields, etc. Each character might have between one and four primary weapons to choose from, one or two side arms, and a choice of two different gadgets that can differ between characters. Weapons can have different scopes and barrels added to them as well as a front grip (which there is no reason not to get) and a laser sight which will increase hip fire accuracy but might give away your position. Characters and attachments for each weapon need to be purchased with renown that you will earn from playing the game, it really doesn't take long to unlock things, it is actually done so quickly that there barely seems to be a reason to not just have everything unlocked. The guns are satisfying to use, the game looks really good, the maps are well designed and have a lot of destructibility, new maps are given to everyone, and characters can fill a lot of different roles. For possible negatives the game should require good teamwork so if you don't know people playing or don't like talking to people it might not be a game for you. A single player mode is missed. The game's damage model might not be liked by everyone, headshots tend to be very important with one hit even by the weakest gun in the game to even the most heavily armored ballistic helmet wearing character is a one shot kill, even if the bullet had to go through cover. Some people might like this as it does lead to people needing to rely on flanking, misdirection, teamwork, and making use of devices that locate enemies. Bad things about this is that it tends to make high rate of fire and low recoil the only thing to care about and slow shooting, low capacity, high damage guns aren't going to matter as much for skilled players. It also means that people will do what would normally be considered a strange thing, like trying to turn their MAC-11s into mini sniper rifles.

Best modern tactical FPS shooter available

If you're looking for a run and gun FPS like Call of Duty then this isn't the game for you. This is more similar to Counterstrike, where communication and teamwork is key in order to win. This is a 5v5 terrorist vs counter-terrorist battle where you are given the option to choose special operators with unique skills and weapons for each mission such as shotguns, sniper rifles and machine guns. Special abilities can include dropping armor for you and your team mates, using a heartbeat sensor to detect nearby enemies, and dropping a mounted light heavy machine gun to mow people down. You unlock operators by using renown points which are earned at the end of each match. The graphics are top notch and my favorite part of the game is the destruction and mayhem that can be achieved in the maps such as blowing up floors and ceilings to use them as entry points. There's nothing cooler than slowly rappelling upside down from the roof of a building and taking out terrorists on the way down. Great game to play with friends, but will take some time to learn the maps such as the airport plane, and numerous houses.

Greatest fps for years.

I have over 400hrs played in this game and it's fantastic. There are some bugs that need to be polished but the developers are listening and keep you well informed. The tactical depth is amazing, the more small tips and tricks I learn the better the game becomes. Slow, steady and tactical is the key in this game. Highly recommend it for fans of first person shooters and competitive games.
