The sun rises on a brave new Japan.
It is 1864 and Japan is steaming into the modern age; to shape its future, you must take command. On the battlefield show your mastery of real-time tactics, while away from it, utilize turn-based campaign strategy to direct urgent political reform and oversee rapid industrialization.
Take advantage of the change you create; pit Gatling guns against hand-forged steel katanas and launch torpedoes against wooden-hulled ships in spectacular clashes of medieval weaponry and mechanized warfare. Drive modernization further and faster by investing in civil development and new technologies that will open a world of opportunity to your nation.
Combine the strength and discipline of traditional samurai warriors with explosive military innovations, such as Gatling guns, shrapnel-shooting Parrott guns and torpedoes.
Open Japan to foreign trade by supporting the shogunate, or resist western influence by backing the Emperor. Lead your own clan and use a combination of clever diplomacy, economic prowess, espionage and military force to convince others to give you their allegiance.
Carve a path into the future by researching and upgrading technologies on the civil and military tech trees, and prepare for rebellion by those who seek to stand in the way of progress.
Adapt your strategies to exploit new technologies. Build railways to move troops at lightning speed, and direct your iron-clad ships to bombard the enemy with powerful cannon from the safety of the open sea.
Build alliances and pursue rivalries in online Mac-Mac multiplayer battles and co-operative campaigns, and dominate the nineteenth-century campaign map by forming a clan and fighting others for territory in “Avatar Conquest” mode.
Access additional skills with four new faction packs. Each one introduces a fresh faction for use in singleplayer and multiplayer campaigns as well as custom battle modes.

The Fall of the Samurai expansion adds to the original base game with better ranged combat and more "modern" units. Naval units are more useful now contributing to sieges and coastal land battles. AI tweaked a bit too. This collection has all the extra factions! also its a standalone i believe. I have shogun2 so can't confirm but I believe it is.
This is a very good strategy game, much like the base game Shogun 2. It combines many new types of content into one awesome game. The game itself is fun to play and addicting while hard to master. The graphics are awesome and create a nice atmosphere. So is the sound and the music, it is well themed and simply brilliant, it immerses you in the game. The naval combat system is very greatly worked upon and improved. It adds an extra clan too which is nice. All in all it adds a ton of new content and fun to the game for a fitting price, I would say, if you liked Shogun 2, get this, it is even better. 9/10
