"Yesterday Origins" will take the immortal heroes, John Yesterday and his other half Pauline, not only across the world, but across history itself. This interwoven narration gives the plot its depth and richness.
It's 1418. In the dead of night, young John is publically humiliated and dragged through the street. He is imprisoned by the Spanish Inquisition under suspicion of witchcraft.
Later, he undergoes an alchemical transformation making him immortal. But the potion used during the ceremony has been tampered with by priest Ginés de Orduña. This means that after each resurrection, John completely forgets who he is.
In the current day, John and Pauline are searching for an artefact that is needed to make the potion, this time correctly. During their investigation, they will have to face dangerous new protagonists who want to steal their secrets...
KEY FEATURES :
With a clever ending, Yesterday Origins brought all that I expected from an extraordinary game in the adventure genre and click theme. A work that, as an independent sequence, has not only included all the elements of the previous version in itself, but has been with great advances. The good news for those who have not yet played the first version of the series is that for the Yesterday Origins experience you do not need to have any prehistory of the fantasy world and lovely characters, so if you're a fan of this genre or maybe you hadn't a good relation with these titles, this is the best chance for you to experience a beautiful and cool work during the cold winter days. Pros: Great story narration and clever ending The occurrence of fictional events in two different time intervals has made a good difference The sweet comedy sense in the game has made it special and wonderful Strong characterization The colorful and eye-catching environments of the 15th century Spain and nowadays Paris Soundscape and Flawless Music Cons: There are only two controllable characters The game is simple! Catastrophic control with the mouse
With a clever ending, Yesterday Origins fulfilled all that I expected from an extraordinary game in the adventure and point & click genre. The game, which, as an independent trail, not only contained all the elements of the previous version of the past, but also brought with it all the remarkable advances. The good news for those who have not yet played the first version of this game is that you do not have to any prehistory of the fantasy world and lovely characters to do Yesterday Origins. So if you're a fan of this genre or you might have been so cool with these titles, this is the best chance for you to experience a beautiful experience.
A good adventure game with memorable characters, interesting story and great graphic / sound design showing that Pendulo still got the touch. On the minus side, I found the game a bit too easy and the new interface is maybe the culprit speeding the multiple random attempts and giving you huge visual hints. Nonetheless, great game.
Yesterday Origins is the sequel to the surprisingly solid, if unimaginatively titled, game Yesterday. Yesterday Origins continues the story of Yesterday, which is the highlight of both Yesterday and Yesterday Origins. It is impossible to talk about anything regarding the story without spoiling it, but both games are worth playing for the story alone, even if the genre isn't to your liking. As with Yesterday, you wander around the environment, clicking on objects to investigate and collect them, combine objects with other objects, and solve puzzles either using logic or blind luck. Some answers will be obvious, others require hints, and some are so obscure that you will require an online walkthrough. Yesterday Origins is a fantastic game but should not be played as a standalone game; if you have not played Yesterday you are required to play that before this game if you want to stand a chance of understanding what is going on, as well as enjoying the story.
Yesterday Origins ? the classical "old school" quest which isn't offering anything cardinally new, but focused on admirers of a genre. A game will hardly interest those who don't love an advenchure though fascinating history and good (often black) humor can draw attention of judges. It is great that the genre hasn't died finally. Pros: classical quest which will please admirers of a genre; interesting story; logical riddles; quite often jokes in dialogues force to smile. Minus: visually a game seems outdated; management is not always convenient.
