That's one of my most played indie games in my library. It's very good, you can explore the map, kill bosses, save the town from the lava, which can be closed by putting blocks, but they might break anytime, so better watch out. You have to make new warriors which respawns from the building made for warriors, also you can send them to collect gold and dig their way to it, or fight with other warriors which are respawning as the time passes, and their aim is to destroy your city. They can be hard to kill if you send a regular digger to kill them or even 2. Your main aim is to save the city from the lava, water and the enemies approaching all the time. And I almost forgot about the mods! The most fun one for me was the axe throwing. You are throwing axes at moving targets and for each target you hit you get points, and they start moving faster and faster on a rails in front of you.
I got attracted by it because of the cute art design and I had a lot of fun building dungeon for my dwarves. There are lots of possible customization to create the dungeon you want. My biggest problem with it is that everything feels slow. It takes a lot of time to create simple things like new rooms for example but the game can easily be played while doing other things like watching a movie or browsing. Aside from that, the resource management isn't hard and I would suggest anybody who likes sandbox games to try it. Game of Dwarves might also be very suitable for kids, that's typically the kind of games I would have played when I was younger.
The game was quite fun for a few hours, while discovering how the various mechanics work together. It definitely has a dwarf-fortress feel to it, digging out an optimal network of caves. The graphics are also quite nice. After mastering the quite simplistic mechanics, which can be beat by simply placing hundreds of instances of the most optimal version of each object type, the game becomes a little boring. There was also very little feeling of progression through the game, after investing a lot of time into your perfect fortress, the game suddenly ends and you have to start again from scratch. The campaign felt incomplete and did not keep me playing. After the introduction missions, the game increases difficulty simply by providing harder enemies, making the biggest obstacle for completing missions simply how long you are willing to wait and train your troops before you commit to battle. I still found it to be worth the relatively small asking price and would recommend it to others looking to fill a few hours with something a little different.
Its a neat little casual game. I find that i miss being able to structure the dungeons better and the building quickly becomes a digging for resources where ever they are. Storywise it dosnt really have that much to offer. Game mechanics are decent. You'll play this game for a while and then move on. If you're looking for a casual fun game to spend some hours playing you've come to the right place. Good fun for your buck.
A game of dwarves is a charming game that is filled with many laughs and enjoyable scenes. The game features enough levels to keep you playing for hours and then a sandbox mode for those looking for more. Despite this however, the game is lacking in gameplay. Although there is plenty of content, most of the levels play out generally the same and require you to spend much of your time simply waiting for more research and your dwarves to level up. The levels aren't challenging, but simply time consuming. decorating your dwarven settlement to make it look pretty can be enjoyable, but the benefit for it is next to nothing. I enjoyed the game, but feel it had too many levels for how much actual gameplay there is in those levels.
