It is a really enjoyable experience, and I'm glad I gave it another shot.

This game is amazing. The graphics are top-notch, the voice acting great, and the gameplay interesting. While I am not sure where it relates in the Anima storyline (I have played that RPG), the backstory seems to fit well enough. Background music is epic. And the combat... well, it takes some getting used to, but seems to flow well.

Dual Destiny

Anima is an Action RPG based on the tabletop RPG with the same name. You control a young woman and a mysterious monster who are forced to cooperate to survive. Because of this, the gameplay lets you play both characters at any time, making the combat quite dynamic and fun. Note however that the game can be challenging at times. Anime looks decent with an anime-like art style and the story is pretty interesting. It's not perfect but it's a fun little RPG.

A Combo of Fun and Cringe

Anima Gate of Memories is a bag full of surprises. The biggest negative or gripe I have after playing the game is that the voice acting is very cringe! In order words, it's quite bad and horribly written. Beyond that, the game is simply excellent! The gameplay is not easy but not too difficult. The combat system is incredible smooth and perfect. I came in expecting it to play like Devil May Cry but I was so wrong. The combat is nowhere like DMC. You have 2 interchangeable characters that link combos with one another while swapping. However the combo swap moves are predetermined and unchangeable. Using character's move A will always link to character's move B on swapping them during a combo. Provided you bought that prerequisite skill that character B is using. This brings huge levels of complexity to how you play the game and I found it to be ultimately both a challenge and great fun! Furthermore, the camera perspective can be a bit twitchy when you're in combat but it somehow adds to the tension of combat! I haven't had this much fun chaining one combo after another. The only time I was unable to truly make massive combos was during boss fights. However, the game plays extremely well despite terrible voice acting and boss mechanics.
