Dead Rising 2 was not a decent sequel to the first version, and Off the Record was not a decent title for both Frank and West. Off the Record does not make a difference with Dead Rising 2 gameplay wise. Even the game starts exactly like the previous version, and some of the steps are quite the same as before. This is the first big hit on the gameplay, which has led to a repetitive game, the only difference being the change of character with a fat man! Although the gameplay mechanism and the high variety of weapons that can be used, it's still fun, but after a while the game is drastically repeated. If you're one of those who really enjoy the style of the game, Off the Record is advised, but if you are looking for a successful title worthy of the name Dead Rising, this game will disappoint you because There is nothing new in it.
If you played Dead Rising 2, the original Dead Rising 2, don't expect something new in Dead Rising 2: Off the record. Don't get me wrong, Dead Rising 2: Off the Record is a really good game, and it's worth your time, even if it is just for arcade fun or want to follow the story that Capcom offers in this entrie in the Dead Rising franchise. Just as the original Dead Rising 2, you can customise and create new weapons with stuff you find around on the city/mall. You can find any store that you can imagine, there's a lot of things to do, not just kill zombies, which is a lot of fun. In Dead Rising 2: Off the record, you take the role of Frank West, the heroe of the first Dead Rising. Now in the mission to go back to make some money in a show, just in time for another zombie outbreak. You have to control Frank and find who cause the zombie outbreak, again, and discover why. Even tho this looks like a re-skin from Dead Rising 2, there's new details and stuff you can do or wasn't present in Dead Rising 2; Anyhow, if you liked Dead Rising 2, Off the Record is a new and fresh start to go and have some fun killing zombies, psicos and rescuing people in danger. Recommended, even if you own Dead Rising 2 already.
Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, is a survival horror action game. This is a revised version of Dead Rising 2, which improves the mechanics of the game and adds new locations. This time we play as a reporter named Frank West, who will be confronted by hordes of bloodthirsty beasts. The arsenal is almost unlimited, so as a weapon, we can use almost everything we find at hand. In addition, with several elements, we can create a single model of weapons with all the new capabilities. Very fun slasher for everyone to try.
Many people hated new main character of Dead Rising 2, Chuck Green, and Capcom noticed opportunity to make money, so they've made a DLC that replaces him with Frank West. It is pretty expensive skin with some minor things changed, like slightly the plot to fit the already classic hero of the franchise. Frank West, into this game. Other than that, the game is nearly identical as vanilla. Overall, if you missed hero from the first game or don't want to play as new character in the sequel, you might as well get this game, since it is standalone and doesn't require base game to play it.
Dead Rising 2 Off The Record is a non canonical alternate history version of the main game. The main character Chuck Green is replaced by the hero of the first game, Frank West. With the addition of a new main character all of the cutscenes are changed to fit the character, most of the plot is the same but there are some changes with character motivations and what happens at the end of the game. There aren't any major changes to the gameplay other than the return of the ability to take pictures and a new boss enemy in the form of Chuck Green taking the place of another boss, though the fight plays out in a similar way. If you enjoyed the original game this will likely be enjoyable to play through, with enough changes to remain interesting.
