IF you're not playing in any league, and you don't need to buy it, it's really better to just wait for the next edition, which supposedly should be far better than this one. I will start with the fact, that compared to previous edition, more stuff was taken out of the game, than placed IN the game. What game does that anyway? You don't have classic cars or tracks anymore. Sure, 2 new tracks were added, because they were raced in 2014 F1 schedule. But... that's mostly it. Oh, the gameplay is a little tweaked, and provides a little bit new experience. There you have it, I have wrote about all new stuff worth mentioning. Not too much, am I right? Signle player career was also messed up. No young driver tests, and what is the WORST in my opinion - you can start career in any car you like! You can even choose Mercedes in your first season and win everything. I much preferred the oldschool, where you had to climb up to eventually finish in top teams, now you have everything given from the start. Like I wrote at the beginning, if you're not a part of F1 league, and don;t have to 'upgrade' to F1 2014, you will be better off waiting for 2015, or just buying F1 2013 at much lower price.
It has a really challenging handling model, with a wheel, you need to feather the throttle to try to minimise wheelspin. Sudden direction changes will disrupt the cars balance so beware. With manual gear shifting it's easier to control the massive torque you get with this game. For those reasons I find this title really fun. It's great fun learning to apply the throttle & it's really challenging to find the right gear to enter and exit a corner to deal with tyre degredation. At the same time it's a shame they haven't taken the game up a level in terms of content and variety of content. There's not a whole lot here. Wet weather is almost undriveable & there are mods out there already to remove rain from the game, which is sad, but it's impossible to drive with aids off. The reintroduction of the short career season is nice. I like 7 race seasons. All in all, it's a fun game with a challenging handling model. I recommend those with a wheel to just turn all assists off & enjoy the game how it should be played. Don't buy the game expecting it to be revolutionary, buy it as an expansion to the 2013 game, an upgrade on an already fairly enjoyable series.
Now, the title might seem a little depressing at first, but I need to clear something up. I said "Last Long," and the reason for this, is because the game is extremely enjoyable, but I honestly couldn't play it months later after its released. Why, might you ask? well, because it gets old. Races all start to feel the same, and altogether, everything gets boring. Now to the good. The game honestly feels great, and the handling, graphics, gameplay, tracks, everything just feels good. The game sticks very close to being as realistic as them can, which I like, and altogether it's a very solid game.
