While the story and graphics are not that bad, especially for game as low budget as this one, voice acting is pretty horrid and it is incredibly buggy and is prone to crash every now and then. What saves this game, though, is really great noir atmosphere and sense of mystery. What kills it is cliffhanger ending previewing the sequel that we will sadly probably never get. Still, if you're starving for old-school point and click, it's pretty good pick, you could've gone much worse. For this price it is worth checking out.
I like this game but the gameplay is very iffy, the movement is hampered all the time so its taken months to move along and tbh I lost interest in it.
Face Noir is an old school point and click adventure set in the 1930s New York City. You play as a private eye who gets involved in a mysterious case, and even though this doesn't sound very original the story is gripping enough to make you want to progress. The thing is... Face Noir ends with a cliffhanger, and there is no real conclusion to what it lays out. The developers are working on a sequel but to my knowledge there is no official release date as of the time of this writing. If this doesn't bother you though, then by all means play this game, because as a point and click it isn't a bad game at all. The puzzles are not obvious but they're always fair and logical, the graphics are decent and the jazzy soundtrack gets the atmosphere right. The game is also fully voice acted, and while the quality isn't stellar, it's still very good.
This point and click adventure was actually pretty good. the story was engaging and the action response was pretty good. Not perfect mind you, i had some trouble navigating at times, but still very good. the writing is very much like the classic noir detective style and the graphic match perfectly with it too. the dark smoky colors and the bleak surroundings of 1934 New York are spot on. The characters are even properly fleshed out and feel like they could have been real people, and not over the top characters of what the 30's were like. The game runs smooth, but can stutter from time to time when moving between screens, but nothing that you can get past easily. would love to play more written by the same team and can't wait to see if they keep making more like this!
