Rage is like a borderlands, or fallout game, that takes itself seriously. This is not a bad thing mind you, it's just that after so many years playing those, you almost expect a different tone, in a post apocalyptic wasteland. Here, the situation is really desperate. The game itself is rather nice. Imagine a typical id game, but this time with a more detailed world, filled with gimmicks. Those aside, this is a very solid shooter. The only nitpick i have, is that most times it feels like you are shooting at statues, instead of human beings. Some of them can survive multiple blasts to the head...which is standard for an id game i guess, but still. At any rate, Rage is the kind of game you owe yourself, if you have a really powerful gaming rig. On that, the game can really shine.
RAGE is definitely one of the most underrated games I've ever seen! this game is really beautiful and is really amazing in gameplay, It might be old but still compared to many modern games still has something to say , the game runs so smooth and the story is compelling too, a sad thing in the game is you can't change FOV, which in my opinion i really a must have option for every single FPS game, a 60 FOV for my 1080p monitor is not really satisfying and after a while you may feel you are getting some kind of dizziness and even headache! but putting that aside, the game artistic design and gameplay really catches my eyes and since it follows and Open World portion you have freedom to do whatever you want and go where ever you like but i suggest you be more careful about it since you might die so easily in some part by bandits! and there's also a Coop option for some missions which make them highly replayable. all in all, RAGE is one of the best creations of id Software and you will really enjoy the game!
So I must say I was very surprised by the game. At first I thought it was nothing special. Because nowhere was talked about and it came as an indie. But with the considerable memory size something had to come out of it. Of course you could have expected from the beginning that a game from the name Bethesda will be brilliant. For me, the first 3 hours of gameplay were made quite nice by the graphics. It looks like Borderlands with improved graphics. Nevertheless Borderlands remain unbeatens by the big Open World Maps and the more unusual gameplay. In Rage, things are more serious. The psychos here are mutants which consume human flesh and do not give a push of themselves. I think it's a pity that you are rather tied to the main missions. You get besides the main mission only around the 1-2 side ones and a few standing orders which can be delivered again and again. But on the whole the game is definitely worth the money and is also very playable for every Borderland fan.
Played through this, hidden gem of a game, in 2017 and found out that I've been missing out on a great game! The atmosphere and clothing on characters are done amazingly good for what kind of world I'd have tried to portray, from idle people to enemies and friends out in the wastes and settlements. For what little world space there is it is done very good, looks believable and is beautifully destroyed. Weapons are interesting and fun, they are fitting of the universe they exist in, mostly. The action is fun and the enemies, especially mutants, move crazy good and are not easy targets at times. Crafting and character build is shallow but fun enough to use time on it, maybe for my own satisfaction of completion. You discover fast that characters are a bit shallow, don't expect much variety in the verbal department from them. They will say a few lines and that's that, maybe repeat them a couple of times. And there aren't much side-quests deserving mentioning but there are a few throughout the game. Racing part of the game is fun for about one hour then it just becomes; I have to do this to progress easier... all the way through the game I kept thinking that the developers had much more in mind when they created this game, a vaster universe, characters, settlements, missions, it's just the feeling I'm left with. Because the world they've created is pure awesome and deserving of so much more.. content! but they cut it short and that that is so frustrating, it could have been so much more! :D Graphics are beginning to show a bit wear and tear compared to newer titles but is holding up for being 2011 graphics and with a little tweaking inside a cfg file, you can get this game to look even better. Plays just fine on a ultra-wide screen. It's absolutely a good game, for what it is a bit short (18 hours thorough playthrough) but action filled post-apocalypse FPS with a little hint of crafting and a shallow character build/upgrades + an unexpectedly sudden end...
Good combination of FPS with vehicle driving, we are traversing the wasteland with our car improving it along the way. The amount of customization is pretty impressive, you can improve engine, armor, suspension, afterburner, we can also add to our minigun car, or self-guided missiles. RAGE is a great FPS, sandbox elements allow us to create items such as guard towers, bandages, self-guided bombs and much more! Unfortunately, if someone is already familiar with Borderlands, may be disappointed in this game because it is not so open world, the game is partly linear. Nevertheless for cheap, it's a decent game.
